Anfield could be dream home for Spanish Villa

SO how much did that hat-trick against the Russkis add on to David Villa's transfer value?
Forget for a moment that LFC at this time can probably barely afford 55-year-old Ricky Villa and dare to dream about the 26-year-old Valencia linking up with 'Our Nando' in the scarlet red of Liverpool.
Real touch of class from the hat-trick hero when he sought the subbed Torres out on the bench after bagging his third and he even 'dedicated' his treble to his strike partner after the game.
Definitely seemed to be a real understanding and wavelength between the two - any more of that and Stevie Gerrard'll be getting jealous!
What the Reds skipper certainly will be perturbed about however will be the covetous glances by Europe's big-hitting clubs towards the Valencia forward and their likelihood of being able to strike a deal ahead of the current Anfield power-brokers.
It seems unfathomable that Villa will still be at the Mestalla, where he has notched 58 goals in 101 games over three seasons, next season and, while there is talk that a deal with Real Madrid is already done and will be announced after the Euros, he is exactly the type of player the club need to be targeting to take us to that holy-grailed 'next level'.
With respect to current supposed 'targets' Stuart Downing, James Milner and even Gareth Barry, all of whom are decent players, it's hard to imagine any of them being able to do that.
At present though it appears, as prefaced by the announcement this week of Kop Holdings Ltd's £33m loss for their first six months and Rafa Benitez's recent comments about it 'not mattering' if we don't have a lot of money to spend (Read here), dreams of pairing up the best two strikers in Spain right now will remain just that.
All we can hope in the meantime is that Ronaldo and our chums down the East Lancs drag that particular transfer saga out for as long as possible to take Madrid's eye off the ball and we're able to persuade Valencia to take John Arne Riise, Charles Itandje and half a chunky Kit Kat in return for their prize asset.
Or maybe Rafa, Xabi, Pepe, Nando & co can gang up on the mean-spirited ref who seemed unwilling to hand over the match ball at the end of the game and that'll seal the deal!

Keep dreaming, you can't even afford Barry
Rafa's swap shop is open " We swap with you a polo and two cans of coke for your best player, he wants to leave you by the way " UTV
Bitter villans!!!
Surely Villa will want to go to a club which wins championships? What will Liverpool pay with, a set of wheel trims and a fake rolex as worn by Jemaine Pennant?
When Villa ran up to Torres after his third goal and whispered something in Torres' ear I just thought: "What if he told Torres that he wanted him to tell Rafa to sign him cos he wants to play with him in Liverpool?!". And I really do hope we sign him. Would be a risky investment to put £50M in just two players (especially sicne both are strikers) but it could pay off really big!
WE DON'T WANT OR NEED BARRY...Keep Alonso and spend the money on Villa, theres no way Barry is better or worth more than Alonso!!!!!
Who said Livepool cant afford those players? Cmmon, we r not the owners or the Manager of Liverpool so we definately wont know what is going on? U guys want to judge Liverpool, than wait till the transfer window closes.
Villa and Barry are owers
Liverpool need another class striker and a couple of wide players not an overpriced pretender like Barry who is not World class.
Torres is the best striker in the world, and IF..IF (please I hope) we can somehow manage to pair Villa up with him at anfield, he will get even better and premiership defences will be torn apart. The prize money from all the cups we'd win would cover his transfer fee.... please please please Mr hicks. sell one of your rubbish american teams to buy him
We need to pull out of this increasingly comical Barry farce right now - £18m? The specky leprechaun is having a laugh!
Put in a bid for Villa, keep Xabi and let the small club in the Midlands struggle on with a captain who plainly doesn't want to play for them.
we should concentrate all efforets to get a class striker i.e villa and a class winger i.e silva. With sales of carson, crouch, etc we could possibly do this in addition to the stingy budget allocated. Much better than gettin 5 or 6 decent players we get two world class players and we may actually be able to challenge big time

I am tired of all this talk of who what and when we going to sign top quality positional playaz. Priority, a strike partner up front with Nando, Villa why not.
Queresma or Joaquim on the flanks, Barry hopefully we manage to get his signature but Martin O Neil is just messing with our heads. Xabi must stay, he is committed to the club and what a playa, we need 1 more central defender. Hicks & Gillete, a message for you, if you want titles and glory you have to spend, now is the time and if you dont we will forever be dreaming, what if !!! We Liverpool fans want nothing but the PS, 1 TITLE AND WE MAKE HISTORY ....Kelvin Choudree SA RED FOR LIFE
People keep blathering on about what Liverpool can and can't afford when in fact they have absolutely no idea. The only thing we can assess with any confidence is that Rafa has been told he has £20m plus what he can raise through sales.
Ok, so we need to make money for these 'big names' people are so keen on. We already have Gerrard, Mascherano, Leiva and potential in the reserves to make a breakthrough for a few games. So, sell Alonso for £15m
We are looking for a replacement at the front who can genuinely score goals and team up well with the likes of Gerrard and of course Torres. So sell Crouch for £12m.
We have cover at left-back and right-back and our defence is not at all bad with the likes of Arbeloa, Carra, Agger, Hyypia, Aurelio so sell Finnan for £2m and Riise for £5m.
Although we need cover for the goalie's position, Itandje (useless) and Carson (doesn't want to) are not that cover so sell them for £3m and 8m respectively.
Kewell the whinging sick note has gone for no money but he's a hefty wage bill we now have cleared.
That is sales of £45m and I have given realistic prices. Because I know we'll get a couple of moaners who fail to see the point of this article, I'll drop it down to £40m. Add to that the £20m our paymasters have condescended to make available (from club funds, not their pockets!) and we have £60m available to spend. And if you still want to whinge, sell Pennant as well and there's another £5m but I'll still call it £60m!
We would need to invest about £3m in an experienced 30+ year old goalie like Maik Taylor or Juuski Jaskelainen or someone similar. We don't need more cover for defence as we look almost certain to have already spent £7m on Dossena. We are strong in the centre of midfield and don't need to spend a load on Barry.
We therefore only have left and right wing and the striking positions to strengthen and we have £50m to do it with. We have Kuyt, Babel and Benayoun who can all do a job out wide, particularly Babel on the left.
So, the two main positions we need to sort out and strengthen are up front (Villa) and right wing (Silva, Quaresma, etc) and we can do that with the £50m.
So there you go, we CAN afford to buy the players we need and in the meantime relieve the burden of average squad players who are draining the club with their wages. We'd then have top class up front, out on the wings, in midfield, in defence and in goal.
And that, if I am not mistaken, means all you need is a top class manager (which we have in Rafa) to bring them all together and watch them build into a top class team.
NOW STOP WHINGING!
Spot on Rob Barron. We now have a superb goalkeeper, four class central defenders, four decent full backs, two world-class central mid-fielders and probably the best centre-forward in the world. All we need is another world-class striker (Villa?) and two wingers and we can challenge United and Chelsea next year. So sell Finnan, Pennant, Alonso, Riise, Voronin, Crouch and Itandje, add the proceeds to the transfer kitty already there and use it to bring in three world-class players plus cover for Reina.
Where's the problem?
Barry is not the player to give liverpool that bit extra, alonso is a much better player, don't get me wrong Barry is a player we need to keep but he just isn't worth 15 - 20 million, if we get 20 million I would be well happy, UP THE VILLA.
I'm sorry to say this but some of the posters on here have been watching a different Xabi, he has been inconsistant for 2 season now and if we can get 15 mil+ for him then we have to do it, Barry is better player he may not be world class but he will flurish playing with better players and don't be suprised if he bags the England captaincy. If we sell the right players at the right price Rafa will be able to sign a striker and 2 decent wingers I much prefer Mancini to Quaresma, he has more to his game and would be cheaper and I think that Milner has the potential to be a great player if he can get to a club with players who want to win not just get paid aka Newcastle, also would be cheaper than Silva or Quaresma. I think if Villa is for sale we have to try and sign him we could be in a good position as we have Rafa and Torres hopefully he will think about his international career when making his decision. We need to use some of our youth though Idjriaz, Spearing and Insua look ready to play some part and deserve a chance. We don't want players who follow the money or we will end up with Drogbas and Lucas Niels and we do not want that.
Nuts
Why dream - he was priced at 25mill to put people off enquiring the last couple of seasons. Then there was speculation he could go for 17ish just before the tournament as they needed the money. If he has just 2 more good games in this tournament, you can bet he'll be transferred at close to the 30 mill mark, which we just aint going to pay. Especially as long as Rafa prefers 2 holding mids and 1 up front.
The transfer debacle is getting out of hand. Harry doesn't want to pay 10 mill for crouch, whcich he's easily worth, Riise is going for about 3 mill which is underpriced and Juve now don't even want to pay 15 mill for Alonso, who regardless of his inconsistent form in the last season has still shown he's one of the best midfield distributors in the world.
To top all that the speccy Irish rainman now thinks he can ask 15, then 18, now 20 Mill!!! for at best a good midfield playmaker. This is in the position where we have Lucas, Mascherano, Gerrard, Alonso, Benny Noon (as Mr Pleat likes to call him) and several promising youngsters.
Frankly I'd prefer to just cancel all transfers and work with what we've got if these are the prices on offer.
"Frankly I'd prefer to just cancel all transfers and work with what we've got if these are the prices on offer."
Damn good shout!
We can't compete with the crazy money being asked for while we're expected to sell for peanuts - we're in no position to outbuy the filthies and CSKA London, so the best we can hope for is 3rd-4th, and anyone who's expecting anything better in the current climate is deluding themselves, so let's just stick with what we have and keep the cash until next summer.
Liverpool are skint, they can't even afford Barry let alone Villa, you guys are getting as delusional as the geordie boys
torres of to chelsea, barry not for sale for less than 20 million, things aint looking to good now are they boys, gerrard might think sod this i've had enough i'm off to VILLA to play with my girlfriend, 'LIVERPOOL' are a club playing catch up like the rest of us!
"torres of to chelsea"
Err, no he's not.
"barry not for sale for less than 20 million"
Well then, looks like he'll be rotting in the Villa reserves for the remainder of his contract, as there's not a cat in hell's chance of Rafa paying £20m for him and he's already said he doesn't want to play for Brummies anymore.
And frankly, who can blame him?
Anyway, shouldn't Villa be letting him go for a little cheaper given that he's been there a decade and is therefore entitled to a testimonial?
Of course, it could be a lot worse.
We could be battling it out with Bolton for nobodies.
Still, Every Little Helps.
Why are people saying we are skint, we're building a new stadium, making the dressing rooms better and buying players have you ever heard of playing your cards close to your chest, we have already spent 23 mil this year on Masch and Skrtel, Barry will come for about 17 mil, 7 mil for Dossena, Milner is reported at 7 mil abd I bet we make a big signing this season 10 mil for Crouch, 13 mil for Xabi, 3 mil for Riise and whatever we get for all the other deadwood would build up extra funds and Torres is going nowhere. Stop being so negative at least we aren't seriously over paying for players like Chelsea, Real, Barca and so on.
lets see how patient the anfield gloryhunters are when barry does nothing week in week out which is what he did for years till martin sorted him 1 good season and hes off youre welcome to him when the bank sell torres hell want to go man utd
Villa fans go on your own board and have whinge, we don't want you on here being all bitter because your best player want to go to a bigger better club, these things happen guys, just Ronaldo going to Real or Henry to Barca.
like torres going to chelsea or gerrard if his family wernt threatened [nice]take away the southerners and anfield wouldnt even be sold out 'i know because unlike most liverpool fans i go there once a year
Gerrard stayed at Anfield because he wanted to, if he really wanted to go to Chelsea he would have, Torres is staying because he wants to, unlike Barry. by the way I haven't missed a home game since I learnt to drive 7 years ago, and I was regular 6 years before that, I ain't no glory fan, just because we are successful doesn't mean we are all in it for the glory.
dont they have buses in liverpool or are you not a scouse in which case youre a gloryhunter no better than cockney man u fan sadly for you you have the same chance of winning a major trophy as us ie none but villa are my local team so i dont care
Actually dude, my Dad who is from Bootle moved to Lancashire when he met my Mum, so I am a scouser just one from Lancashire actually half Scouse half Lancs and as my choices of teams to support when I was a nipper were Liverpool or Burnley and my Dad supported Liverpool I chose the reds, so now you know I brief history of my love for the kop, go back to your own board.
ill do that and you go on your local board ie burnley but they dont win enough for you do they i hear chelsea shirts are going cheap perhaps you should get one aston brummie and proud from the 3rd division to rotterdam
