Philipp Degen inspired by Anfield atmosphere
PHILIPP DEGEN has revealed an affinity with the matchday atmosphere at Anfield.
The Switzerland international regularly played in front of home crowds of up to 80,000 when at former club Borussia Dortmund.
But Degen, who was in a visiting Basel squad in the Champions League back in 2002, has particular memories of Anfield.
He said: "I remember the atmosphere, it is something I put to the back of my mind but now I cannot wait to experience it again.
"I have always wanted to play for this club and the fans here. Anyone who has been here and listened to them knows how exciting it is.
"I believe I have what Liverpool want. I understand the manager's ideas of tactics. I have pace, speed and like going forward.
"I believe there is great potential here and that Liverpool have what it takes to win the title."
Degen revealed that former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann told him not to pass up the opportunity to play for the club.
"He told me that is it a great club and a great city where the people are really friendly," he added.
