Owners are right: Barry does cost too much

IT'S already 'ditto last season' for Liverpool.
Rafael Benitez falling out with the owners off the pitch, Fernando Torres coming to the rescue on it.

In terms of the latest behind-the-scenes spat, I'm with the owners.

They're not necessarily right in taking a decision away from the manager but they are not wrong in their judgement on Gareth Barry.

Some players are simply too expensive, that's life. And Benitez needs a different type of player to strengthen his side.

Barry is not the answer. Liverpool need somebody out wide because the midfield is too much of an imbalance at the moment.

But although Liverpool aren't playing well, I think it's actually been a good start.

Liege was poor but sometimes getting a good chasing early in the season can be more beneficial than cruising at 3-0.

It gets your fitness going quicker and, considering Liverpool will win the second leg anyway and they have followed up with the win at Sunderland, the game in Belgium has actually helped them.

But all is not well in camp and in this new season we're still asking the same old question - how long is this going to go on for?

We are all entitled to our opinions. Do you think for one minute this would happen at Man Utd. No. You select your manager and right or wrong, you back him. I like Barry. Yes he is overpriced. But most people think he's worth say 15 million. So we are talking about 3 million here. Is it worth causing major club unrest about. What proof do we have that Barry wont make the difference. We have to deal in facts. Do the club have the money or dont they? Rafa says he has been told we do. Rick Parry said the Barry decision was not about money. Its inconceivable that a Liverpool manager would be superceded in a decision about a player to sign by board members on anything other that a plain fund level. Thats the first sign that the club is going the wrong way.

Gareth Barry was no way overpriced. Maybe if he was it would be 2-3 million pounds nothing more. Gareth Barry is a fantastic player, a fantastic leader who could've played 3 different positions for the club. He could control the game from the centre, he could have played out on the left wing, and he could backed up in defence. He will more than likely be the England vice captain sooner rather than later. I hope all the Liverpool fans who slagged Barry have a look at Barry throughout the season and then have a look at Alonso who hasn't played a decent game for the club in 3 seasons and who is inflexible to play in any other position and who will be a bench warmer once Mascherano comes in from the olympics and go mmm we really STUFFED IT UP!!! and gave a precidence for the owners idiotically and now guess who we're going to get Riera? an absolute utter piece of well I won't say it. But missing out on barry will have a devastating affect on the club and could mean Rafa,Torres etc will leave as well.

No matter overprice or not.

The buy-player transaction should go fast! Why can't Liverpool make a clear decision??
If not choose Barry, go to select another play. If choose Barry, go ahead!!!

Don't waste time anymore, otherwise no new player eventually! The transfer windows will be closed SOON!!! Clear decision should be made because it is TOO annoying to both Liverpool's players and fans now!!!

Its great when people talk about having an opinion and facts .... I haven't seen any facts yet just lots of opinion!

The facts are ... Every club has walked away from a transfer because it was to expensive, including man utd!!! Why do some fans make us out to be some poor club and poor city, WE ARE NOT!!! So to all those who prefer to make up there own facts, please keep them to your self!

The questions we should be asking is why after total support last season with over 70m spent on players (more then man utd) and this is a fact (go research yourselves) and a 20m keane buy this summer as well as other players why Rafa can't just understand that this is financially a bad deal 18m + 12m wages = 30m for a player we will get nothing back in 4 years, that equals 7.5m a year for a midfielder, Do you see anyone else bidding, NO!!! For me rafa needs to move on and stop moaning, 40+ years supporting this great club and I don't remember a manager that moaned so much and then said he loved the club! If Rafa truely loves this club then he should stop dissing it with these outbursts to the press, it gets fans moaning on here and making up facts! Truth, is we have sensible owners in place who know how to run a business, yet Rafa and the fans think the owners should keep throwing money at players ... Mr Moore didn't, so why the change? Crazy times for LFC and its all caused by the manager and fans moaning ... So have an opinion but shouldn't it be about our belief and passion, lets stop turning this great club into a soap :-(
Its not the owners bring this club down, it's the negative moaning!!!

What planet are you living on reikirebel?

Including sales of players, Rafa spent about £20 million last summer and about £12 million (so far) this summer. He also makes an average of £20 million a year EVERY year from European football. And those are the FACTS.

I suggest you get your FACTS straight before posting, next time.

And to suggest that the Americans have the best interests of the club at heart is quite frankly a joke! No sane Liverpool fan would even attempt to suggest this. I wonder if you are on their payroll...

Sigh.

Come back with your opinion when you've spent some time in top-flight football management.

Red said:

And since when have LFC worried about the resale value of players? Historically, we've not been a selling club. The reason the Americans are worried about this is because it gives them the option of asset stripping the club if the worst comes to the worst
