Try and See It My Way...
IN the week building up to the Matthew Street festival, the Beatles track 'We Can Work it Out' would seem very applicable at Anfield.
From Americans, to Barry, to lack of width there are so many things which need putting right before we can consider putting up any form of challenge for any silverware.
Last weekend at Sunderland the chorus of Fernando Torres' name rang around the Stadium of Light as the away section gave thanks to the man Benitez brought in last summer for once again winning a match with a piece of pure genius.
Thank God for Torres, because he gave us what we had all waited for all summer, that crazy goal celebration where you're oblivious to anything else around you in a sheer moment of ecstasy, and there is nothing to compare to that feeling. Nothing.
A second half performance from Xabi Alonso enhanced the opinion that he is more than up for the fight for his place, which began with his position not being threatened by the managers main summer target, but a Reserve team graduate Damien Plessis who at times looked out of his depth.
Elsewhere in midfield, Dirk Kuyt and Yossi Benayoun lacked the width to really cause any damage, and only the introduction on Nabil EL Zhar and Fabio Aurellio gave us an option on each wing.
Of course the return of Ryan Babel will add depth and his ability to shoot on sight added to his power and pace can help Liverpool in the attacking department.
But regardless of the performance at this stage we are off to the start which we all wanted by taking three points from our opening game.

Hopefully, throughout the course of the season any problems behind the scenes can be kept there and not brought into the public the way it was so embarrassingly done so in the past year.
In terms of on the pitch, we have to hope that beginning on Matthew Street weekend through to May the attack of Gerrard, Babel, Keane and Torres become a modern day 'Fab Four.'

Couldn't agree more mate. I've got a real bad shin at the mo, and when that went in and the extatic bouncing commenced, i smacked it so hard off the back of the seat infront of me, but didnt even notice it.
La la la la la la la laaaaaa la la
Cannot beat it.
Your right, we got no hope in the 4-4-2 with dirk playin right mid, but hopefully babel can do some damage down the flanks now and masch will be bk next week to sure up that centre.
