Crewe coach Holland comes to Anfield to provide shock

CREWE first-team coach Steve Holland insists his Coca-Cola League One side will be travelling to Anfield tonight determined to shock Liverpool and replicate Barnsley's cup heroics from last season.

Crewe come up against Rafael Benitez's Liverpool side in the third round of the Carling Cup and Holland has already taken his entire squad on a tour of the famous Merseyside ground in order for them to forget about the occasion and focus on winning the tie.

Holland has taken inspiration from Barnsley's FA Cup heroics just seven months ago when they travelled to Anfield and, against the odds, secured a dramatic victory.

And the Alex manager is hoping lightning strikes twice when his charges come up against the five-time European champions.

"We know that facing any Liverpool side is going to be extremely difficult because they have fantastic players, but we will go there with belief," Holland said.

"Our objective hasn't changed because we are playing Liverpool, we want to go as far as we can. We have a great opportunity to cover ourselves in real glory and make a name for ourselves. Liverpool won't want to lose at home to Crewe and will be looking to progress as much as we do, but we want to go there and win a football match.

"There is absolutely no point them getting onto the bus if they don't have that belief. It is a great chance for our players to cause an upset and let's see if they can take it."
