Robbie Keane is proving to be worth every penny
ROBBIE KEANE went another 90 minutes without a goal on Saturday . . . and no-one batted an eyelid.
That's because Keane is doing an excellent job for the team, and Liverpool's fans are knowledgeable enough to see that.
Robbie got through a phenomenal amount of work, as did Dirk Kuyt - typically - alongside him.
It was as if both strikers decided they were going to set the trend for work-rate.
They didn't give United's defenders a second on the ball. Heck, they didn't even give Edwin van der Sar time to breathe - and that attitude was infectious throughout the team.
Of course Robbie Keane will score lots of goals for Liverpool.
Just like Peter Crouch did after taking 18 games to get off the mark.
I think Robbie took seven or eight games to get off the mark when he first moved to Tottenham, and then exploded into life with 10 or 11 in almost as many matches.
He just needs to be patient. There's no sign of him snatching at chances yet so there's no need to worry.
As long as he continues to work like he did on Saturday his manager, team-mates and the fans will be delighted.

your spot on, he worked his socks off all game, him and mascherano were warriors.
well actually he fluffed about 3 chances at the weekend... howver i do think its only a matter of time and once a goal goes in for him it will open the floodgates, he is not there to be our main goalscorer; thats torres, he is there to link up play, harass defenders and chip in with some goals... i think it will be money well spent on a player who always gives 100%
20M on a 27 year old who was mediocre for a mid table club money well spent - who the hell are you kidding?
Bristle, do your homework next time you have anything to say. Keanes scoring record is amongst the best in the prem. All while playing for a mid table team. Theres nothing worse than people having a go at players when they dont take the time to look at their record. Silly.
Deadly right Keane's work rate was top notch against man-u
!!!!BUT!!!! for 19million i want to see !!!!GOALS!!!! from my striker, hes had perfectly good oppertunites to score aswel so a good work rate is not nearly enough for that much money.
KEANES LEAGUE GOALS - KEANES LEAGUE GOALS
In his first season at spurs he scored only 13 goals in 29 league games, Keanes goal ratio averaged at EXACTLY 11 goals a season in the premier leage at spurs, wich is hardly worth 19 million.
His League goal ratio averageing over his whole carrer so far, Not including inter millan and LFC were he never even scored a league goal is at a meesley 10 per season (rounded up) HARDLY WORTH 19MILLION AND HARDLY AMOUNGST THE BEST IN THE PREM!!!!!
He will come good, and his role is defo primarily as a support striker. We needed someone like him to pressure and create runs to distract defenders and allow FT more space to score a shedload of goals. Don't care who scores 'em, as long as we win!
keano ceetainly had a good game
how does rafa plan to use him... i know he likes the lone striker formation... and its not as though u cud live torres or keano out every week...
does this mean rafa plays 4-4-2, or does it mean he plays 4-5-1 with keano on the wing...
maybe the best solution is 4-1-2-2-1
reina,
arbeloa carragher agger bossena
mascherano
riera babel
gerrard keane
torres
any thoughts... not a liverpool fan btw, but an admirer of the club.
How do you guys want to win the EPL with a player like crouch who won't score till the 20the or 30th league game he plays!!! If Torres and Gerrard do't score, we can't expect keane to score, coz he is just another misfit!!
A complete waste of money, we already had dirk kuyt as a workhorse, ow we've got aother, the team was better against marseille without keane, come down from fatasy land!!

interesting thoughts from echo blogger about the marseille game.
Only a matter of time before he scores his first goal and kicks on from there
henry took ages, Bergkamp took ages, even Peter crouch took ages to get the first goal.
keane is quality and i have no doubt he will be a vital part of this team for years to come.anyone who knows anything about football knows he is one of the most intelligent and consistent goalscorers in the prem, what kind of fans are yous give him a chance, you muppets are always quick to criticise our players, youse are an embarassment to the liverpool fans.
What do you lot want? We are unbeaten and have beaten the filth and we've only played well once. Normally we play the Mancs off the pitch and lose and struggle to finish off sides. We beat Stoke at home on Saturday and we are top of the league and it will be our best league start in years. Kuyt is not a striker any more so stop bleating about how many he scores. He is a top notch right midfielder who cares for the club a great deal. Keane will come good but if he doesn't score all season, and we win the league, he would have been part of the TEAM that helped do it. Look at the difference on Saturday, after Berbatov had set up the first goal, he turned to the crowd, arms out wide as if he had scored. He didn't run to Tevez to congratulate him. In it for himself. Keane is not like that at all.
I bought him to redefine the way we think about the Defensive Striker role, him and Kuyt are setting the benchmark. Defensive Strikers for a Defensive system, genius in its simplicity!
"Keane is doing an excellent job for the team, and Liverpool's fans are knowledgeable enough to see that."
You obviously don't visit a lot of forums, Rushie.
Probably for the best - you'd be shocked at what some of the numpties post!
are you messin es doing a good job so we paid 20 million 4 another kuyt not good enough for liverpool .
paul your a muppet, you havent got a clue about football, keane is a top player the goals will come, stop whining and give him a chance
ur chating lad wouldnt you rava da 20 million on on good wide man for a mid table good player .
Keane indeed has been a great player for Leeds and Tootenham but we need to be realistic, if keane doesn't score goals then who will. Kuyt is a waste. He rarely crosses a ball good to scare defences. Was it not the warrior spirit of Masch against MANC babbl would not have scored. Babbel is also one player who is a striker player in a different role. Reira will end the spell of Babbel in the left. So will he play in the right or middle. Benitez needs to put some order and see who to keep and who to sell. Kuyt would have brought good money in to finance the purchase or barry or milner.
