FANS group Spirit of Shankly are to stage a major demonstration and march against Anfield's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett this Saturday morning.

The rallying cry follows news last week that plans to build a new stadium will go on hold for at least a year due to financial difficulties faced by the pair.

The fans group are urging thousands of supporters to show their feelings in a march from the Liverpool Supporters Club on Lower Breck Road, starting at 11am.

Said a Spirit of Shankly statement: "Saturday is a massive day. We are playing one of our biggest rivals, a team who are one behind us in league titles.

"Much of the talk at the moment, however, is about what's going on off the pitch - what Hicks and Gillett are up to, the stadium and the club's finances.

"Let's remind everyone what we want - Hicks and Gillett, out of our club. Let's make sure they get the message.

"Bring your banners and bring your voices We need a march of passion that roars its message loud and proud: Enough is enough - go now."

Question.

why is the Liverpool Echo supporting groups like SOS, by giving them press coverage?

No-one can deny that the principles behind SOS are what the majority of fans want.

Hicks and Gilliet out!
But they actually create more bad press than the Yanks could dream of by organising a protest march before the Man Utd game… Of all the games to pick, the Mancs will be laughing their heads off, and any protest will spill into the ground thus creating the perfect atomosphere for United to succeed in. These football (clowns) snobs from SOS are making the rest of the LFC fans look like that comedy lot from Newcastle.

I can see where your comming from yozzer, however this is one of the biggest game, tv people, press coverage etc etc will be there, so its really the best time to march against the scheming yanky clowns.
So come on you reds get along to the march and support the SOS.

The protest will not be during the match mate. The team will be given 100% by everybody in the ground so why don't you get yourself down to the supporters club @ 11am and voice your concern about the current ownership. As for the comment about football snobs, these people are the lifeblood of support for Liverpool football club who are fighting to retain the passion that is rightfully theirs.
Why will the mancs be laughing their heads off at us? they have been through all this nonsense themselves and the only clowns to be spoken about on Saturday will be in the boardroom and not marching down Walton Breck Road.
Are you an armchair supporter by any chance??......Thought so, why don't you just leave the the hard work to us, you can just put the kettle on in Easy St and carry on reading the papers.

Thanks Gag for your comments...

i just hope it doesn't spill into the ground.(Barnsley..no support ..just protests)

I was merely stating the fact, the protests , the marches..are "Just not Liverpool"....total embarassing...like the letter to RBS ..????? it just seems all SOS want to do , is de-value the club , so some "miracle" ,"non profit making" , "Gods" like DIC can buy the club on the cheap!!

As for you comments about being an Armchair??????? Sorry do you have to be an elite season ticket holder in Block 109, to have an say?

ps i'm a season ticket holder for the past 20 years...

oh and by the way i'm not a out of towner..either!!(another SOS rule)
