LIVERPOOL skipper Steven Gerrard's Champions League double in Marseille took him his Anfield goals tally to 99 - here's a quick look back at 10 of his best strikes, vote for your favourite >>>>>>>>>>>>>

1. Sheffield Wednesday (H) November 1999 W 4-1

Almost a year to the day after making his first-team debut, the 19-year-old finally gets on the scoresheet for the Reds and in some style, receiving a pass from Rigobert Song just inside the Wednesday half and advancing menacingly towards the 18-yard box before, with a drop of the shoulder, gliding past two desperate challenges and finishing crisply across Kevin Pressman (Watch here)

2. Manchester United (H) March 2001 W 2-0

With United's third title on the bounce virtually in the bag and many Reds' thoughts already half-turning towards the following week's UEFA Cup semi final in Barcelona, Gerrard silences the irony-free 'Spot the Scouser on the Kop' chants from the cockneys in the Anfield Road end by latching onto Robbie Fowler's pass following a loose clearance from Fabian Barthez and returning it with interest past the Frenchman and into the top corner before he can even smell it (Watch here)

3. Everton (A) September 2001 W 3-1

With Goodison in ferment following Kevin Campbell's early opener, Gerrard draws the Reds level within minutes, picking up a half-cleared cross from the left and making himself an angle for a perfectly-arrowed drive into the top corner of the net before politely enquiring of the Bullens Road stand whether they had managed to see past all the pillars as he couldn't quite hear them (Watch here)

4. Manchester United (Cardiff) March 2003 W 2-0

Not the prettiest goal of the 99, with a large deflection off David Beckham aiding Gerrard's 25-yard drive in its flight beyond Fabian Barthez but one of the most valuable as it gives the Reds a platform to withstand a second half United onslaught before victory is assured by Michael Owen late on, providing at least one day of bright sunshine in an otherwise dark season as Gerard Houllier's reign begins to come off the rails (Watch here)

5. Olympiakos (H) December 2004 W 3-1

This generation's St Etienne moment. With Champions League elimination beckoning, now-club captain Gerrard meets substitute Neil Mellor's perfectly-judged headed lay-off with the sweetest of half-volleys that rockets past helpless Greek goalkeeper Nikopolidis and sends Liverpool into the knock-out stages of the competition, sending Kopites (even secret ones like Andy Gray) into raptures (Watch here)

6. Middlesbrough (H) April 2005 D 1-1

Days before Chelsea are due at Anfield to decide who will be at the European Cup final in Istanbul and, with his team-mates struggling to find an equaliser against the Teesiders, Gerrard lets fly with an extraordinary 30-yard strike that seems to gain in velocity as it soars past Mark Schwarzer and gives anxious Reds belief that their side can find a goal when they have to (Watch here)

7. AC Milan (Istanbul) May 2005 D 3-3 (L'pool win 3-2 on pens)

With his side's hopes and dreams in tatters after the Italians' imperious first-half performance in the Ataturk, Gerrard launches one of the greatest comebacks ever seen with a perfectly-steered 15-yard header from John Arne Riise's left-wing cross, visibly lifting both his side and the Reds behind Jerzy Dudek's goal with his arm-waving exhortations as Milan prepare to re-start the game (Watch here)

8. West Ham United (Cardiff) May 2006 D 3-3 (L'pool win 3-1 on pens)

Three freakish West Ham goals look to have given the Londoners the spoils in the last Cardiff FA Cup final before a weary and cramping Gerrard, having already contributed an assist and a goal at the end of a gruelling season that started in July, somehow musters the will to spear an unerring 30-yard drive past Shaka Hislop in the Hammers goal just as the tannoy is announcing how much stoppage time is to be played (Watch here)

9. Aston Villa (A) August 2007 W 2-1

A late Villa penalty looked to have denied the Reds their first opening-day win under Rafa Benitez but the skipper's perfect, dipping 25-yard set piece creeps under the crossbar to break Villa hearts and spark manic celebrations in the away end (Watch here)

10. Olympique Marseille (A) September 2008 W 2-1

With the Reds trailing to Marseille skipper Cana's opener, Gerrard hauls his side back on level terms with a sublime strike, sweeping Dirk Kuyt's lay-off on the right corner of the penalty area through an elegant arc into the top left hand corner of the net (Watch here)
