BRUCEY BONUS

FOLLOWING up an enthralling comeback against a Manchester side has already proved an obstacle in Liverpool's attempts to prove their genuine title credentials this season.

The 2-1 win over United last month was followed by a goalless draw with Stoke - and if Liverpool are to avoid similar frustration in building on their 3-2 win at City a fortnight ago then they have to face one of their most baffling bogeymen - and out his nose well and truly out of joint.

Steve Bruce. And that inability to beat him at Anfield.

He brings his Wigan side to Anfield today after drawing four and losing just one of his six previous Premier League games at the ground.

His only previous visit with Wigan was in January's 1-1 draw.

And since his Birmingham side recorded a 1-0 victory four years ago, only Manchester United and Chelsea have beaten Liverpool at home in the league.

TITUS SHAMBLES

TITUS BRAMBLE secured a point for Wigan at Anfield in January - with a 20-yard screamer into the top corner!

But the non-plussed centre-back is more famous for his prowess at the other end of the field. Here are five of his best slip-ups:

1. Wigan v Sunderland, September 08: An unmarked Bramble gives his keeper Chris Kirkland no chance with a stunning near-post header.

2. Wigan v Everton, January 08: Bramble's pass is perfectly placed - so much so even Andrew Johnson couldn't miss.

3. Wigan v Man City, Dec 07: Out to impress new manager Steve Bruce, only seconds have passed when Bramble's wild hack at mid-air puts Geovanni clear to score.

4. Newcastle v Barcelona, Mar 03: Bramble appears to nod off as he's guiding the ball back to Shay Given and Patrick Kluivert nips in to end Newcastle's Champions League hopes.

5. Ipswich v Liverpool, May 02: Michael Owen is gifted a Bramble back-header which sums up Ipswich's woeful defensive display. A 5-0 defeat at Anfield sends them down.
