Liverpool FC comeback shows title potential

RAFAEL BENITEZ enjoying an international break? Well, maybe he won't go that far.

But the Liverpool manager can sit back, relax and finally know his side has got what it takes to realistically challenge for the title.

The mark of champions is the ability to blow teams away and make sure the opposition can't cope with you. Liverpool won that game at Manchester City in the space of 25-30 minutes and in that time they could have made the margin of victory even bigger.

It was the way that they dismissed being 2-0 down that will encourage them most. They believed in themselves and their movement in the second half was something to behold. Fernando Torres made Richard Dunne and Micah Richards look like YTS trainees and they just couldn't cope with it.

The fact that a two-goal deficit didn't affect the quality of the attacking football shows a new side to Liverpool.

In the past they would have lost confidence, got agitated and impatient and allowed the game to get away from them.

The fact that they prevented this happening and closed out for the three points will have Benitez in a great mood during this next fortnight.

Yes he might be thinking, please everyone come back form the internationals without getting injured.

But, in terms of the title race he'll also be thinking: "We can do this."
