Speaking With The Enemy: Bolton v Liverpool
Stephen Monk is a lifelong Bolton fan
What have you made of Bolton's start to the season?
Improving slowly but there is little to choose between a big group of teams at present.
You supporters don't seem to like Gary Megson much?
He didn't arrive with the best track record. He slowly won a few supporters over with a great result in Munich, and a win over Man United was a highlight. At one time Ginger Mourinho was a popular chant.
This season, a succession of negative team selections and poor performances have turned a large element of the supporter base against him. He is certainly a battler but most people do not feel he is the long term managerial solution for us and popular sentiment is for a return by Phil Brown at Hull.
Is there too much expectation at Bolton now after what Big Sam achieved?
We probably did punch above our weight. We were clearly never going to compete with the big four, but a bit more boldness from the Directors would surely have meant we would have been in a better position now.
Who is your star player this season?
Gary Cahill, surely knocking on the door of the full England squad.
Not record signing Johann Elmander then?
We feel a bit sorry for him at present. His workrate is excellent but he has had very poor service.
How does the Reebok fare in the atmosphere stakes on Saturday lunchtimes?
Like every lunchtime kick-offs it can be somewhat subdued; not a good time to play football.
What have you made of Liverpool this season?
They look more like genuine title material but I always get the feeling a blip is just around the corner. Wednesday night's poor result against Tottenham perhaps demonstrated that.
Ignoring Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres - which Liverpool player do you wish you had?
Dirk Kuyt is a loose cannon but has many admirable qualities. I really admire Jamie Carragher, a model professional.
You lot looked dreadful against Everton - you can't seriously expect to beat Liverpool can you?
Don't tell Gary Megson as it might make him more negative than normal but I think a draw might be a good result at weekend.
