FORMER England midfielder Nick Barmby is relishing his return to Liverpool.

Barmby spent two years with the Reds after a £6million move from Everton in 2001.

The 34-year-old moved on to Leeds before joining Hull, then in the third tier, in 2004.

Hull's rise through the divisions since has given Barmby another chance to play at the top level and he is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

Barmby said: "I loved my time at Liverpool, it's a fantastic club.

"But I am more pleased for the fans to be going to places like Anfield."

The two sides will be meeting each other for the first time since 1997, when the Reds won a Worthington League Cup second round tie 9-3 on aggregate, Danny Murphy scoring three goals over the two legs.
