Three home draws on the bounce - but Liverpool could have lost

By Larry Moran on Dec 15, 08 08:04 AM in Fans

THAT'S three home draws on the bounce, four altogether so far and we have not reached the turn of the year.

Mind you, when Hull went two goals up I think most fans would have taken a draw right away.

Had Hull's McShane not been taken off and Mendy moved back to right-back I think we'd have lost.

Mendy was going past Dossena like he wasn't there. A lot of Liverpool fans wish he wasn't to be fair.

Phil Brown's comments after the game about there being pushing in the box for both of Liverpool's goals, ignored the fact that both of Hull's goals came after they were awarded dodgy free-kicks.

It was a poor display by the referee who should also have sent off Boateng for two bad tackles.

Going in 2-2 at half-time, we all expected Liverpool would have enough to finish off Hull in the second half.

We had enough of the ball and Sami Hyypia was unlucky when his header hit the post but we all also expected to see Robbie Keane introduced at some point to help stretch Hull's defence.

The fact that it didn't happen and we dropped home points again puts the spotlight on Rafa. Dirk Kuyt's first touch was poor all day and Keane seemed the obvious option.

Yossi Benayoun was busy but knocked off the ball too easily. He wouldn't win a 50:50 tackle with an extra-strong mint.

The draw could have put Chelsea back in the driving seat, but they slipped up as well.

That is the most annoying thing for the fans. We are letting our rivals off the hook too often.

I wonder whether Keane would have brought anything to the cause. Surely he wouldn't have scored. He seems to need more space to fully express himself than was granted by Hull on Saturday. I for one am very glad Rafa didn't bring him on, because he makes us the leagues laughing stock with his persistent arm waving and face making. Maybe he should try himself as a pantomime. So far he shows more talent doing this than playing football. Rafa clearly doesn't like sulking players. Anyone remember Djibril Cissé?
