The Jury: Liverpool FC fans on the Champions League defeat to Chelsea
ANDY COLLINSON, Aigburth
EMBARRASSING! How much money do you need to be paid as a manager to realise the midfield does everything and, if you field one that doesn't tackle, challenge or move, then the team is liable to suffer embarrassing defeats?
Although I've had my doubts about Mascherano, God how we missed him. Riera was rubbish. Lucas is simply second division. And Alonso wouldn't understand a "good tackle" if he was a North Sea trawlerman.
Benitez was utterly to blame for last night's shambles. After starting to slip back into his defensive preferences against Fulham, he should have seen after 15 minutes there was no fight for Liverpool and addressed our failings.
Lucas and Riera off, Gerrard moved back, and Kuyt told to stay in the box. It's not rocket-science, but it is the end of a European fantasy.
PAUL ANDERSON, Orrell Park
LAST night was a big disappointment as it looks as though the European Cup has slipped out of our grasp.
But unlike in years gone by at this stage all our eggs have not been placed in one basket.
Losing in the Champions League had previously meant season over.
However on Saturday we have yet another massive game and the players, staff and fans alike must pick themselves up for the Premiership run in.
Once again questions will be asked about zonal marking, and it was shocking to concede two goals from corners, all coming after we made what was the perfect start.
Of course it is only half time, and with Liverpool nothing is ever over.
I feel this time at Chelsea it may be one bridge too far.
So now we have seven league games to focus on, and should we manage to play to the ability we have over the past couple of weeks and not let last night eat away at us we could still be named Premiership champions.
PAUL O'LEARY, Allerton
IT was quite simply the worst collective performance since New Year's Day 2003 when we lost to Newcastle as St James Park. Too many players put in the worst performance of the season in the same game and barring Arbeloa and Kuyt who had decent games no one else can feel remotely happy with their performance.
We had talked the talk all week in the papers, which is always a potential banana skin but looked like frightened schoolboys on the pitch. Carragher had his worst game in a long time; he could not deal with Drogba. It was evident Hiddink had told him to keep away from Skrtel who has got the better of him in recent duals. Essien did a job on Gerrard, and Torres was not as dynamic and explosive as he has been in the past month.
The only positive is that Terry will miss the away leg, but in all honesty I fear the damage is already done.
ROBERT GILLIES, Aigburth
NO complaints, it was a fair result. Despite taking the early lead Chelsea were able to go up a gear in response.
They looked stronger but only because they were all at the top of their game. Drogba should have scored twice in the first half.
With the exception of Arbeloa and Reina the rest of the Reds looked tired and off the pace.
The midfield did not look strong enough in its defensive duties, particularly Alonso.
The usual red herring of zonal marking at corners will be raised. Statistics support the manager, done properly teams concede less with this system.
However when it does not work it is very obvious.
These occasions happen, ask Bayern Munich, and need to be kept in the perspective of an otherwise excellent season.
The plan for Saturday is to re-instate Mascherano and aim for three points and banish any discussion of what to do in the return leg until that has been achieved.

The answer to our crappest performances this season lies with tweedle dumb and tweedle f**k.
Lucas is one of the most useless players in the squad but Dossena makes him look like friggin Pele!
Sell them to a blind team in summer or swap them for some sweets and a few bottles of lemmo.
Why not stick Jay Spearing on instead of Lucas? The lads like a little pitbull. And what happened to Ngog who finally came good and then even threw in a few tricks when his confidence grew.
In Rafa we trust but you're making it hard for us boss!
Lucas,Dossena, and Babel all have to go in the summer...they are useless. I don't know what Benitez sees in Lucas at all, I'd rather he play Spearing who I think it 10 times better than Lucas. As far as Carragher goes, he should be on the bench the next match...his defending was shocking last night against Chelsea.
If Andy Collinson is a Liverpool supporter, I'm the prime minister!!! The guy never has a decent word to say about the Reds, come what may. He's an imposter, and has no place being a regular commentator onanything to do with LFC. Get rid please.
BENITEZ MUST BE FIRED. His rotations are drowning us, as are the very stupid owners. He hasn't won us a trophy since 2006, when we won the FA Cup. This club is far too great to go that long without success. In order to succeed, we immediately need:
1. New owners
2. A new, world-class manager
3. More cash for better players

An observation from down under. If Liverpool were ever going to win the Premiership, which they may still do, this was the season to do it. Just look at what Manchester United had to face. All the main challengers away from home in the Premier League, going a game behind because of the Super Cup, travel half way around the world for the FIFA club cup which put their fixtures further behind. and go through the group stages of the ECL. All this before the end of the year. It's no wonder that Liverpool were sitting at the top of the table at that time before possibly blowing their chances with a number of poor performances. While there's still a way to go, the reds should have had the Premiership all wrapped up by now.
I totally agree with the comment further up: this guy claims to be a Liverpool supporter never has a good word to say, whenever I read the echo I can predict when he'll be one of the fans writing the article and it's normally when something negative has happened - ie. Lucas has a rare bad game; Rafa says something inflammatory in the press, the boys suffer a rare defeat. He never has a positive word to say about anything, and I wouldn't be surprised if his problem lies in the fact that he's blatantly xenophobic, and is one of these 'true Reds' who wants a team full of English, 'local lads'. I second that - get rid.
