Liverpool FC fan interview: Professional golfer Lee Slattery

How long have you supported LFC? What made you decide to support the club?

I have been a Liverpool fan my whole life. I had a football kit since the day I was born! I am Liverpool till I die!

Have you met any Liverpool players or other footballers on the golf course?

Stevie G, Sami Hyypia, Vladimir Smicer (he followed me round at a tournament in the Czech Republic), Didi Hamann (we are good friends and I stayed at his house when I was playing Hoylake), Gary Gillespie, Phil Neal and a few others I am sure!

Who is your favourite player, past and present?

Past has to be Michael Owen - I still think he is a great player and should be going to the World Cup. I wish Rafa had made an offer for him. Present player has to be Fernando Torres - the guy is a legend!

How often do you get to go to the matches, away or at Anfield?

Not many at all because I am away so much. I would say a couple a year.

What is your favourite ground other than Anfield?

Stadium of Light! - my caddie Stevie has taken me up there a few times

How do you follow the Reds when you're away on tour?

I try and find somewhere to watch them on TV or I watch it on my laptop - usually you just have to follow the caddies who know where the footie is on!

Are there any other big football fans on the European tour? Any other Reds?

Thomas Bjorn, Gary Murphy and Graeme Storm are all Liverpool fans. Phil Archer is a Manc fan and Ian Poulter is a Gooner!

Do you have a favourite LFC memory?

Champions League in Istanbul. It was the week of Wentworth and I watched in the Monkey's Forehead with a few of the other lads on Tour. It was a hell of a night!

What are your hopes for this season?

Well, I think Xabi Alonso will be a huge loss and we should have bought a couple more players. I would love us to win the League though!

What do you think of Liverpool's chances of winning the title this season?

If we can keep Stevie G fit and Torres we will have a chance..however I worry about Torres remaining fit for the whole season!

Who do you think will win the title this season if Liverpool don't win it and why?

Chelsea and simply because of Ancelotti!

Would you prefer to win the Premier League or the Champions League?

Premier League because we have not done it in so long.

What did you think of Michael Owen signing for Manchester United?

I thought it was a great deal for Utd. I still really rate Michael Owen and as I said before I wish we had signed him. It's such a shame that he has ended up there though!
