My Thoughts on Liverpool Football Club's First Team

Yesterday I wrote a column on this site about our game against Debrecen and appear to have upset one of my regular critics. This was not what I intended to do. He said that I was not a true fan and had not right to call the team rubbish. I had not in fact done this but did say that they had not played as well as they should have and also that at least eight of the team members did not have the heart to play for Liverpool Football Club. To be honest I am still fuming about this remark, because although I live down south, I am Liverpool through and through and always have been.
In response to his remarks, I have listed below what I think of each of the players.
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THESE ARE MY COMMENTS AND IN NO WAY REFLECT WHAT RAFA BENITEZ AND LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB THINK OF THEM.
.
Daniel Agger - Here we have a young man who has just returned from injury and has begun to prove that he may have a future in the team.
David Amoo - I have not as yet seen what this young man can do, so cannot comment.
Daniel Sanchez Ayala - I have not seen him play more than a couple of times so his commitment to the team has still to be shown.
Fabio Aurelio - This young man has just returned from a long period of injury and has yet to secure his place again in the first team. He certainly played well during the Debrecan game and gives me the impression that his heart is with Liverpool Football Club.
Alberto Aquilani - He was bought during the summer transfer window although still suffering from an ankle injury. I have watched him him a couple of times and look forward to hopefully seeing him on the pitch for a full ninety minutes. For some reason though, we are only being given glimpses at the moment although he is supposed to be match fit.
Ryan Babel - This young man puzzles me. He has said that he wishes to play for the club and understands that he must for his place. Some of his performances have been fantastic, other times I get the feeling he is just not bothered. He is now in trouble with Rafa Benitez for making a remark that I guess must have some negative effect on the team on Tuesday. Should he move on in January - Yes I think he should - his heart is not in the Liverpool set up.
Yossi Benayoun - Here we have a player that is showing immense promise and has been our saviour in many of the last games. Yossi is one of the players that have been to Belgrade for new horse placenta treatment and as sceptical as I am, it appears to have worked. I think he will be a benefit to the team if he can gain a regular first team place.
Dean Bouzanis - I have not as yet seen this young man play.
Jamie Carragher - This young man has been with Liverpool Football Club since leaving school and always gives his all for the team. He was born in Bootle and shows his allegiance to the red shirt in every game.
Diego Cavalieri - Diego is our reserve goalkeeper and has only featured in a few first team games. From what I have seen, he will of course improve in time, providing he gets the games to do so.
Stephen Darby - Here we have another local lad that has worked his way up from the academy. He is also showing promise and I believe just needs games to show that he has it in him to make a great Liverpool player.
Phillip Degen - I have not seen this young man play so cannot make any comments.
Mikel San Jose Dominguez - I have not seen this young man play so cannot comment.
Andre Dossena - Andre unfortunately does not fit into the Liverpool team and needs to move on.
Nathan Eccleston - Another gradulate of the academy that is showing promise and will improve as he plays more first team games.
Nabel El Zhar - Nabel has made several first team appearances and again needs to prove he is worthy of his place.
Steven Gerrard - Steven has like Jamie been with Liverpool Football Club since leaving school and proves during each game his allegiance for the club. He is an extremely good captain and sets a great example; I just wish the rest of the lads would follow. Steven has been out through injury and I felt so sorry for him on Tuesday. The look of total horror on his face at the end of the game was awful to see. He knows the team should do better and I hope they get behind their captain and prove it.
Peter Gulasci - I have not seen this young man play so cannot comment.
Martin Hansen - I have not seen this young man play so cannot comment.
Emiliano Insua - This young man does not play as much as he should. He needs to be given more chances to play in the first as I believe he shows a great deal of promise.
Steven Irwin - I have not as yet seen this young man play.
Charles Itande - I have not yet seen this man play so cannot comment.
Glen Johnson - Glen arrived from Portsmouth during the summer transfer window and is providing the cover required along the wing. He does unfortunately falter when part of the defence set up but to his credit is trying to improve all the time. He is another of the players that have had the horse placenta treatment and hopefully will soon command a first team place.
Martin Kelly - Martin is an another local lad that has come up through the academy. He was unfortunately injured during one of his rare first team appearances. He is another young man that is showing promise and once fit again I believe will be of great benefit to the team.
Dirk Kuyt - Dirk was another one of Rafa's good buys and is a good workhorse for the club. I enjoy watching him and although his goal tally this season has not been good, last season he did extremely well. He is one of those players that has found his allegiance to the shirt and I hope will be with us for many seasons to come.
Sotirios Kyriakos - This young man was bought in by Rafa Benitez as cover for the departed Sami Hyppia. Has it worked - in some ways yes but again I believe that he needs more first team action.
Lucas Leiva - Lucas as he is known had a very bad season last year and I will admit to being one of his fiercest critics. I was astonished that Rafa had faith in him, but this season he has shown a major improvement and looks to becoming a permanent fixture in the first team. You can see the pleasure in his face when he knows he has done well and again the horror when he has failed. This to me is a good sign that he is taking on board the lessons learnt in training.
David Martin - I have not seen this young man play so cannot comment.
Javier Mascherano - Javier was rescued from West Ham by Rafa Benitez. He was not having a good time there and his career appear to be going nowhere. Since arriving at the club Javier has proved what a great player he is, although this season I believe he is missing Alonso and has found it hard to settle. It is also rumoured that he wants a move to Spain, true or not his heart until recently has not appeared to be the team, although watching him during the last few games I believe we are beginning to win him over again.
Kristien Nemeth - This young man has made a few first team appearances and I believe again like Jay Spearing would improve if given the chance.
David Ngog - This young man has come up from the academy and is proving to be a great asset to the first team. In several of our games he has been our saviour with his goal scoring abilities. I am sure he will go on to be a great striker and become an asset to the team.
Damien Plessi - Damien I understand is doing well in reserves - Again I cannot comment as I have not seen him play.0
Pepe Reina - Pepe along with Fernando has proved to be another of Rafa's good buys. He has proved over and over again what a credit to the red shirt he is. We have someone who I would class as a world class goalkeeper and I hope that he stays with us for a long time.
Albert Riera - Albert has been a welcome addition to the team when fit. He has the speed and ability to help us push forward and will I hope in the future score some goals. His heart is in every game and I believe will soon realise what the red shirt means in full. He has also had the horse placenta treatment but has yet to play a full ninety minutes since returning.
Martin Skrtel - Martin is another player that I had my doubts about last season but I believe he has improved greatly this season and will eventually become an asset to the red shirt.
Jay Spearing - Jay is Liverpool born and bred and has graduated from the academy. Having watched him in the reserves and in the first team, I honestly believe that we have a great player in the making here. Hopefully Rafa will give him more first team chances so that he can gain the experience he needs. You can see from his face that he already understands the meaning of wearing the red shirt.
Fernando Torres - Fernando was bought to England from Spain by Rafa Benitez- He has proved to be one of his good buys. The lad is a great player and his goal tally is good. He is unfortunately injured at the moment and I look forward to his return. I only that he is not rushed back because that may well be detrimental in the end.
Andrly Voronin - Here we have a young man that is not suited to playing for Liverpool Football Club. He was sent out on loan last season to gain some experience in Germany, where apparently he did well. Why he cannot show the same kind of form for us, I simply do not know.
These are my personnel feelings about each player and I apologise in advance if I have upset anyone, I certainly have no intention of doing so. I am just a supporter who wants her team to do extremely well and as you can imagine at the moment as angry as most of you are. Again I reiterate they are not the views of Liverpool Football Club.

This young man....This young man.................This young man."Remember these are my views and not those of the club or Rafa",REALLY!,you surprise me.Fabio's around 30,"this young man".This analysis is ultimately pointless, don't know what your end game is and the style of writing is extremely peculiar.
IM IN TOTAL AGREEMENT WITH YOU.
My style of writing is just that - it is my style - I was just getting rid of a few demons that is all - the age of 30 is nothing - not even to a footballer these days.
what a waste of time article
Yeah, the "this young man" repetition was... eh.. quite repititious!! I know more about the reserve team than you do from basically just keeping track on them on the LFC Official website. You made some decent-ish points but you lost me at Charles Itandje. Firstly, some of your spelling leaves a lot to be desired and Mr Itandje has left the club after the sniggering incident at the Hillboro memorial. If you knew Liverpool and cared about Liverpool (or even just watched Sky Sports) you would have known this. I stopped reading around there.
Rafa is losing my confidence more each week and Stevie will be on the move if there aint some BIG changes. I reckon Torres will stay though, he has come to love Liverpool and their fans and he will not follow Benitez like a dog.
Maybe it was but it got a lot of my chest
Hi Boxgrafic - yes I admit to being rather repetitive but I was having one of those days. I do keep an eye on the LFC but not as much as I should. I did wonder about Charles Itandje - I must it did ring a bell with me about him leaving the club - I guess I should have checked my facts first. I do recall the Hillsborough incident and it should have rung a bell with me earlier. I care a hell of lot about Liverpool Football Club but after having a mini stroke my memory is not as good as it should be and I do make these silly mistakes. Where Rafa is concerned I am at a crossroads, i honestly do not know what way to go - sometimes I think he should go, sometimes I think we need to give him more time. I hope you are wrong about Stevie - He thought about it once and changed his mind - hopefully that will not happen again. Torres is the one the owners will try and shift if the financial situation gets as bad as I think it will. I hope you are right in saying that he will stay no matter what - I think he has many years of great football ahead and I want to see him do it for Liverpool Football Club
Hi Mark - Thank You
