Observation and real concern on LFC
It is sad that there are "none so blind as those who will not see" when it comes to Liverpool Football Club and its loyal fans these strange days
Please be kind enough to afford time to read this heartfelt feedback and real concern.
One can only be stunned at the blind devotion of many fans to a manager who in company with the owners is totally responsible for the debacle that now pervades, once glorious Anfield. The incumbent manager chose the players, DICTATES tactics and SELECTS the team.
Any manager 'worth his salt' is a good man-manager first, a sound proven coach and a even better motivator. All 'performers' need encouragement so why does Rafa not enthuse when goals are scored? His touchline 'orchestrating antics' and gestures cannot really help under confident players nor truly alter the course of a game.
It is no good completely blaming the already proven fallible remote owners who had indeed sanctioned very much ill-afforded expense on players that are just not up to standard for the Premiership, let alone Conference leagues.
The ever distant 'brand-concious' owners, who clearly would not comprehend Liverpool passion nor good team selection if they fell over it, did not select Voronin, Lucas, Dossena nor play the likes of the earnest Kuyt or Babel and others out of natural position. Nor did anyone but the manager appoint the fitness coach and revise the background staff to HIS choice and comprehension.
So if the system is NOT working and it clearly isn't, or players are not fit to play or competent enough or the tactics deployed are questionable then it is the man who makes these decision who is solely to blame! Why does nobody raise this?
The 'buck' stops with the decision maker - a nice chap - wrong job!
How any player performs playing for LFC these days depends much on the influences instilled from training ground and then the touchline. .. remember all these players were bought in with establish talent and potential.. yet seemingly scant regard for developing the abundance of home grown players, so what has happened to them, to that talent and potential? Indeed some very capable and promising players have been shipped out .. one wonders why? How much a player costs is not always a true indication of suitability, worth or talent, reference: Gerrard, Owen, Rush, Fowler and Carragher to name a recent few to have excelled with Red passion at little to no cost. In 'rafadays' few local players ever get their chance and if they do it is against the odds...almost as if to prove a point or put them in the shop window for sale or let. Local talent is no longer groomed to a first team future.. crazy, in these cash conscious times.
Wearisome TV interviews where "Control", "Character", over- used 'qwallity' now almost becoming expletives to merely paper over an inept 'incident-blindness' of an over-interfering, control-mad decision- maker.....who in any other environment who be well on their way by now.. as 5 years of 'Controlling the game', over stocking the club and in process winning nothing of significance is now years too long!
Experienced, much heralded ex-players and all the pundits can see it, so why can't the 'Rafa club' even see through this Rafa-haze?
In realising that London and national media are on 'LFC case' - the hate bias is obvious but why indeed does the local press not ask more inquistive questions of the managers' decisions or is it that controlled?
I've wholeheartedly supported Liverpool Football club since 1947 and will never waver the inbred passion for my HOME town team and will continue to do so as long as I live, which is why I felt that I must point up some obviously overlooked but relevant issues.
I do wish for the very best for the club which is why the whole current scenario leaves me and many other fans I know, totally bewildered.

Blind devotion?
EPL position (points)
2004/2005 - 5th (58)
2005/2006 - 3rd (82)
2006/2007 3rd (68)
2007/2008 - 4th (76)
2008/2009 - 2nd (86)
Encouragement = enthusing when goals are scored. Isn't that the fans job? I personally want the manager to focus on tactics and how the players are performing than celebrating. If you want charismatic behaviour, watch X-Factor.
Provide verifiable evidence to support your statement about "players that are just not up to standard for the Premiership".
Lucas - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bola_de_Ouro (notice the previous winners)
System and tactics - How did we beat the Mancs for the 3rd time in a row if they "clearly" aren't working?
"The 'buck' stops with the decision maker - a nice chap - wrong job!" Finally something we agree on...but not the person being judged. Perhaps it's you who should not decide to question the manager without researching even slightly.
"scant regard for developing the abundance of home grown players" - Look into the following names: Spearing, Darby, Kelly and Irwin
"promising players have been shipped out .. one wonders why?" Did the thought of making a financial profit on a player you've deemed surplus to requirements ever come into consideration?
When we bought back Rush did he come on a free? Or is that your idea of "at little to no cost""
"Experienced, much heralded ex-players and all the pundits" - Who have achieved what in management?
"I've wholeheartedly supported Liverpool Football club since 1947" - yet choose to criticise without investigating and knowing the players in your "HOME town team"?
Some dates to help you start remembering how much joy rafa has brought us:
25 May, 2005; 13 May, 2006 and 23 May, 2007 as a start.
As always YNWA!
Yes, just what has Rafa done for the club in his 5 years since taking over the shambles left by Houlier? European Champions League winners, FA Cup winners, European Super Cup winners, Champions League & Carling Cup finalists. Champions league qualification every year, best centre forward in the world, one of best keepers in the world. Much needed overhaul of the Academy with some of the best young talents set to emerge. Saw off an incompetent CE who was holding the club back. All this at a time of absolute chaos behind the scenes at the club and a vicious media vendetta against him for the last 2 years. Obviously overlooked and relevant issues?
