Hillsborough 1989 - The Possible Return of Terracing 2010

As all Liverpool supporters are aware the horrific scenes on the afternoon of 15th April 1989 and the subsequent publication of The Taylor Report led to the banning of terracing in football stadia.
It now appears to have turned full circle. Tomorrow in London parliament is due to vote on a private members bill, which has been tabled by Liberal Democrat MP Don Foster. If passed this bill would allow league Football clubs to construct safe terraced areas at their stadiums. For some unknown reason this has been backed by various supporter liaison groups, who quite frankly should know better.
Kenny Dalglish who was the Liverpool manager at the time of the Hillsborough disaster has branded it a "Huge Insult" to the 96 people who died that day. He also points out that the relatives of the victims are still trying to get the justice they deserve twenty one years later

In an interview given to the radio Kenny said -
"To me, I think safe standing is a bit of a contradiction in terms. It might be safe enough if you're there alone but unless it's managed and looked after properly, then I don't see how it could be safe."
"The football fans at Hillsborough in 1989 put their trust in the authorities to look after them, to make sure that standing was safe."
People are going through the process at the moment to get the justice that they're waited so long for and hugely deserve. I think it's really a bit insensitive for someone to put this forward."
"It's alright standing there if there is only one or two of you in a 30,000 crowd but when you start to get people involved and if it's not handled properly, it will always be a problem."
"I don't think it's a coincidence also that there's been less problems with grounds since they have been made all-seater. For me, I can't understand the logic in it, and I think it's a huge insult to the people who lost loved ones at Hillsborough and are fighting for justice."
"If they want to have a discussion about it then put it back until they get a ruling on their outstanding legal cases that are going on at the moment."
Having lived through that fateful weekend in 1989 and witnessing the suffering that my family went through in its aftermath, I do not want terracing to return to our football stadiums.
As Kenny has said a stop needs to be put on this immediately and a proper process put into place before anything is decided. The first part of this of course would be for Don Foster to speak to the relatives of the 96. He might actually realise what a massive mistake it would be.

there is no point in saying no, there should be a vote of all fans nationwide, im sure if the fans that died at hillsborough were here today they would be standing to watch the game, its not the standing up thats the problem its the organisation that needs sorting out, most fans stand up anyway
