WHILE Rafa Benitez plots an overhaul of his squad, certain parts of Anfield are being given a facelift at present which will impact on stadium tours next week.

Due to essential rebuilding work on the dressing rooms, tours between this Monday, June 16, and Sunday, June 22 will be shortened to miss out both these and the 'This is Anfield' sign.

A club spokesman said: "We apologise for the disappointment this may cause, but the work is essential and cannot be done at any other time.

WHAT is it that Chelsea Football Club fail to understand about the word 'no.'

A national newspaper ran a story this week declaring: "Chelsea are preparing a shock bid for Liverpool ace Fernando Torres."

The reasoning?

"Because Chelsea have been encouraged by Liverpool not rejecting out of hand their initial approach for Torres."

Wednesday 30th April will be a significant date in the diary of all reds supporters. Not only being the date of the second leg of the much anticipated Champions League Semi Final, but a date that will spark a flurry of travel arrangements from all over the Country.

Tuesday the 29th will decide one of the finalists for Moscow, and an extra day to arrange the formalities, but the date that holds much of the nations interest is the day after.

For the third time in only four seasons, Liverpool and Chelsea battle out for a place in Europe's elite competition.

Both the previous encounters have been too close to call, and this is no different.

Chelsea, as many have stated, are marginal favourites, but as Arsenal proved in the previous round an away goal scored first can turn the tie on it's head.

I HOPE Rafa Benitez today rests every player he is planning to use next Wednesday against Chelsea except two - John Arne Riise and Pepe Reina.

In Riise's case, the best thing that can possibly happen after that unbelievable own goal at the Kop end is for him to get back out on the pitch as quickly as possible and try to get it out of his system.

IF Liverpool are to win the European Cup yet again they are likely to have to do two things which they have never done under Rafa Benitez.

The first is an absolute necessity because unless Liverpool score at Stamford Bridge - or, unless one of the Chelsea players returns John Arne Riise's favour - on Wednesday night they will be out.

IF only Chelsea were as easy to shrug off as police advice. With supporters channelling their energies into hoisting their heroes up amongst the European gods once more, the nearly men of West London again found themselves being ushered closer to another semi-final exit door.

Until John Arne Riise used his head to forcefully slam it shut once again.

But even that calamitous injury-time own goal couldn't stifle the singing and the insistence - however optimistic it looks now - that "we shall not be moved".

So here we are again. Liverpool against Chelsea for a place in the European Cup final.

LIVERPOOL can make it a hat-trick of European Cup semi-final victories over Chelsea and I really believe they will do it.

There has been a lot of talk about Chelsea being slight favourites to make it through to the Champions League final because they are at home in the second leg but that's certainly not the way I see it.

IT looks so simple on paper. If Liverpool do what they have done in the last two semi-final meetings with Chelsea they will sail into a third European Cup final in four years.

The problem is, this time they are at home first. And they will need to go into it with a completely different psyche

What's the minimum needed against Chelsea at Anfield?

WE'VE got the gold mine of the Champions League - and now the Premier League want to cash in by sending clubs to far-flung corners of the earth in another money-making exercise.

That's all it is.

Clubs often complain about league and cup games coming fast and furious, with the more successful ones having European matches, too - and little time for rest.

I WAS really impressed with Liverpool's performance against Chelsea at the weekend and the challenge for them now is to repeat it week in, week out.

The work every player put in was fantastic to see and I'm sure the Liverpool fans who made the trip to London for the game, and those who were watching at home on TV, really appreciated it.

Dirk Kuyt's work rate was absolutely incredible. He never stopped running from the first minute to the last and when you play alongside someone who is like that their commitment is infectious.

WHICH Liverpool team will turn up at Stamford Bridge on Sunday?

Nothing the Reds do against Chelsea can alter the fact that their title bid this season is over.

But what is important is that it will determine just where Rafa Benitez's side are in terms of the Premier League.
