LIVERPOOL have turned down a £2.5m offer from Premier League newcomers Stoke City for veteran defender Sami Hyypia.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis has already made several signings this summer and had earmarked 34-year-old Hyypia as the man he wanted to become his latest acquisition.
But with the Finnish defender still held in high esteem at Anfield and still able to compete at the highest level, Rafa Benitez turned the offer down flat.

Hyypia only signed a new one-year contract with Liverpool at the end of last season and is not looking to move away from the club he joined for a bargain £2.6m in 1999.
Benitez regards him as a key member of his squad and believes his experience remains vital.
