LIVERPOOL plan a total overhaul of Fernando Torres' medical care to try to discover the reason for his fifth hamstring injury in 16 months.

The Spanish striker broke down again during Wednesday's Champions League victory over Marseille.

Scans have revealed a repetition of the injury that could rule him out for three weeks, the December 21 trip to Arsenal being the tentative target for his comeback.

RAFA BENITEZ today bemoaned the loss of Fernando Torres and Fabio Aurelio through injury.

The pair are facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up injuries in the midweek win over Marseille - and the Reds boss could not hide the frustration at having to cope without them.

"Clearly, it is a blow to us, and the big disappointment that we will be without two of our players because of injuries," he said.

TOMORROW marks the 10-year anniversary of Steven Gerrard's arrival on the Anfield stage.

Which makes this an opportune moment to ask a leading question. Is he the greatest Liverpool player of all time?

It's a relevant query - one for which there is no right or wrong answer.

EVERTON 6 Liverpool 0 is not a scoreline anyone at Anfield would ever like to see.

Nor is Man United 2 Liverpool 0. Or Man City 4 Liverpool 0. Or Blackburn 2 Liverpool 0. And - as if those weren't bad enough - how about a couple of 1-0 defeats to Bolton and Wigan?

These aren't results from this or any other season. But, in a way, what these scores represent is something much worse - each denotes the number of Academy graduates currently at each north west club who have made at least a single league appearance.

LIVERPOOL have been dealt a serious setback with the news Fernando Torres will be sidelined for up to three weeks with his THIRD hamstring injury of the season.

And Rafael Benitez was suffered a further headache with Fabio Aurelio ruled out for the next fortnight after suffering a calf problem.

Torres, though, is the major blow with concern growing over the striker's continual hamstring problems.
