THIRTY years ago today West Yorkshire Police confirmed that building society clerk Josephine Whitaker, who was killed in Halifax, was the 11th victim of the Yorkshire Ripper.

Police announced that it had appeared the ripper had changed his mode of killing, and even respectable women were now at risk.

Meanwhile at Anfield, Emlyn Hughes - veteran of more than 700 games - was left out of the team to play Arsenal, as Liverpool settled down to their task of winning the League Championship.

ALL local derbies are fiercely contested but some have more history than others. From Scotland to Argentina and Egypt, here are the games fans look for the moment the fixture list is unveiled.

And here are 10 of the best.

1 Celtic v Rangers

ROBBIE FOWLER has arrived Down Under and insists he can't wait to start pre-season training with A-League outfit North Queensland Fury.

Training does not officially get under way until May, but the former Liverpool striker will be put to work by Fury's coaching staff immediately.

Fowler arrived in Australia amidst much fanfare, and delighted fans by posing for photos and signing whatever was presented to him.

TWENTY Years ago this week the Home Office were urgently investigating the case of 26 Everton fans jailed for mob violence.

Officials were ordered to carry out a thorough review of the case because the supporters were still protesting their innocence.

The fans were found guilty of public order offences following an alleged military style attack on rival supporters before an Arsenal v Everton game at Highbury in December 1987.

Loyalty is an attribute that all fans want from their players. This bunch however, put the fans at the bottom of their priority list.

1 Sol Campbell

After Spurs offered him a contract that would have made him the club's highest paid player ever, Sol decided in the summer of 2001 that he would not only leave the club on a free transfer, but he would relocate to Highbury. Spurs fans marked Sol's first appearance in red and white at White Heart Lane by burning an effigy of him outside the ground.
