Title would be just what Liverpool fans deserve - Kevin Nolan

BOLTON captain Kevin Nolan was in Istanbul to watch Liverpool claim their fifth European Cup against AC Milan in 2005 but he insists a first domestic title since 1990 would rank far higher.

Liverpool enhanced their remarkable European pedigree further three years ago with their stunning comeback victory against AC Milan.Nolan, a boyhood Liverpool fan who grew up in the city and still lives there, has fond memories of the match regarded as one of the greatest European finals.

However, almost 19 years have passed since the club were last crowned domestic champions and that is a source of immense frustration to Nolan and thousands of other Liverpool followers.

That their bitter rivals Manchester United have amassed 10 Premier League titles since 1993 has merely compounded their hurt.

But a hugely impressive start to the campaign has ensured Rafael Benitez's side head to the Reebok Stadium tomorrow lunchtime joint top of the Barclays Premier League with Chelsea.

If Sir Alex Ferguson's men retain the title again this season, they will draw level with Liverpool's record haul of 18 English championships.

For Nolan, 26, that is simply not acceptable.

"There's been a lot of talk about United matching Liverpool's record of 18 and that's not something that I want to see," he said.

"As a Liverpool lad and as a fan I don't think it should happen to be honest.

"It would certainly hurt the history of Liverpool and everything they have achieved.

"It would hurt the players as well but if United get that 18th title then they will deserve it because they have been absolutely fantastic over the last 15 years.

"Growing up as a young lad, I used to actually like United because Lee Sharpe and Eric Cantona were my favourite players.

"I got a bit of stick for that but I loved Steve McManaman and John Barnes as well and, being a Liverpool lad, I always want both Liverpool and Everton to do well.

"I get so much respect from people when I'm out and about in town from Liverpool and Everton fans, which is great.

Nolan was discarded by Liverpool as a schoolboy, but that has done little to dampen his enthusiasm for the club he will lead Bolton against this weekend.

"It would be great to see the championship coming back to Liverpool because it would mean so much to the fans," he said.

"When they won the Champions League in 2005 the amount of fans on the streets was absolutely unbelievable.

"I didn't get back in time for the victory parade - I was stuck in the airport - but I saw it on telly and a lot of my family were there.

"Istanbul was brilliant but winning the league would top that and I don't think Liverpool are far off.

"The squad in depth probably isn't as good as Man United and Chelsea, but their first XI is definitely as good as theirs and they have proved that this season by beating them both."

I am from Israel and also now'm speaking English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Designers develop on the adware brand and can be known from example to arrive a pre-planning's next rate."

Thank you very much ;). Charissa.
