It's shabby, Alonso.

It seems very clear now that Xabi Alonso wants to leave LFC and go and join the New Galacticos at Real Madrid. Real's representatives keep on talking about this price and that price yet Alonso is still a contracted Liverpool player?

It seems contracts these days are just ways to ensure that the players get the opportunity to renegotiate their wages up another few thousand quid at regular intervals.

In the case of Alonso, with one eye on the currency fluctuations between the Euro and the Pound and the other on UK tax rates, it seems home is where the more lucrative heart is.

Apparently just married in San Sebastian after returning from the Confederations Cup in South Africa, Xabi has now made it clear to Rafa Benitez that he sees his future in the white of Madrid.

We hear Rafa is playing hard ball and wants Alonso to submit a transfer request. For his part it's reported that Alonso does not want to do that as "it would jeopardise his relationship with the Liverpool supporters".

Sorry, but it's too late for many of us Xabi. Once you say you do not want to wear the shirt, that's it amigo. Javier Mascherano please take note.

During last summer's Gareth Barry saga, Alonso got huge support from Liverpool's fans. That support obviously meant nothing.

We have just come as close as we ever have to winning the Premiership. With the right signings we could go even closer or even win it finally.

Great time to want to walk away Xabi.

There was also talk that Alonso felt he was owed this transfer being sorted out with the minimum of fuss because of his "loyalty" to the club over his five years here.

Loyalty? Five years?

Loyalty is supporting the club for decades. Loyalty is when people ask for their ashes to be scattered on the Anfield turf when they pass away.

Loyalty is demonstrated by club legends like Ian Callaghan. Great player, great professional, great person.

I'm sorry but something that only lasts for five years sounds like an extended warranty on a fridge freezer to me.

There's also the issue of how this issue has been drawn out. The Premiership season starts in a month. We play our first pre-season friendly tonight at St.Gallen. By the time this transfer is sorted out, what chance does Benitez have of finding a replacement at a decent price? Any price is likely to be hiked up as the deadline for the start of the new season approaches.

That's none of Xabi's concern either though is it?

The issue with Mascherano is even stranger. It seems his wife is homesick and back in Argentina. How homesickness for Argentina equates to wanting to play in Spain for Barcelona eludes me.

Carlos Tevez has just moved from Man United to newly-rich Man City. Tevez shares the same "owner" and management team as Mascherano. Coincidence? You decide.

The antics of the players these days are driving more and more supporters to consider the OTT option.

That option is "I think I'll watch it On The Telly".

More and more people are weighing up whether the price on a match ticket to watch twenty-two multi-millionaires ponce around the pitch might be better spent at the local pub. At least you get a few pints for your trouble.

If you get drunk enough you might even believe it when certain players kiss the badge.

Don't think they sell ale that strong though do they?

There's no formal information that Alonso has asked to leave?
Stop jumping on the bandwagon and believing everything you hear in the news..

I just wonder what makes you so sure that Xabi really don't want wear red anymore.
Is there any direct quotation on any media? or that you hear it with your own ear?
Nothing so far has been decided, and as to a n expected succesful negotiation for the benefit of the player, I can see the best bargaining chip within hand is the stupid white shirt.

While demanding loyalty from players towards their club, you seem to forget the need for clubs to be loyal to their players. Rafa was ready to sell Xabi last season when Xabi had no desire to leave. So why is it so bad if Xabi wants to leave this year when Rafa does not want to sell him?

Re: Pat and Koala - on this website and others it's been made clear that Alonso has asked for a move to Madrid. Get your head out of the sand. Or out of Alonso's......

Pat said:

Yeah, obviously credible information when it comes from a newspaper/news site.

Shank's Red Army said:

Pat: Bit at a loss to understand what you would consider credible? If Alonso is quoted on this or any other news site as "I'm staying", why therefore would you believe that??????

It seems you only want to believe what you actually want to hear?

( Nice to see the Villa Fan taking an interest in the goings-on a a Big Club too ).

Shank's Red Army : It's on the internet, so it must be true...

Shank's Red Army said:

Steven : It's reported in both the local Liverpool newspapers too. By the journalists that actually cover the club. Don't think they would print it and jeopardise their relationship with the club if it was untrue - do you?

Pat said:

Credible information = Information directly from the club, player.
Any article with the word "reportidly" I don't take seriously!

Also things are quoted are hard to understand as most tabloids exploit every single word and turn "wow barca are interested in me?" into "masch wants to leave"

I'll believe it when I see xabi in a madrid shirt:)

Pat said:

So untill then why not just support him and not just shoot him down as soon as you hear something in the papers

Patrick M said:

If all these reports of Alonso wanting to leave are false, why doesn't he just come out and say what's on his mind? That is whats frustrating. All we're hearing is "he said that" and "he said this", shouldn't it be time when Alonso actually comes out and tells everyone what he wants?

koala676 said:

Patrick: cuz' the best choice for him is to keep silence in public, when either side could be his destination this summer.
Shank's Red Army: I don't want to argue about the information reliability. Believe every words came out for certain reason, not only the meaning you learned on the papertalk. If you still want to go further, I would say that's just a useful approach to give Rafa some pressure. Xabi was delivering this message: either tell me directly you want me to stay and I'm not for sale! or just sell me and don't say any redundant words. Although this is not a wise shot in my opinion, I believe you actually have found Rafa's furious feedback on the media, which you read and trust.

koala676 - I'd respond to you if I actually understood what you were trying to voxspeak.

Are you any relation to Stanley Unwin? ;)

Fine, it's totally useless to discuss on this topic now.

This article is playing into the hands of Real Madrid.

ShanksRedArmy, can we take it you are the guy behind this site.

I defend our great tradition of not washing our linen in public and not responding to Madrid's dirty tactics.

Please put Liverpool first and not your poxy site and the shabby article above.

Shank's Red Army : I really don't know the goings on of journalism and the reasons for printing stories, but I do know that not everything that appears in the Echo is true (maybe through no fault of their own). However, I do know that Xabi did not come out and milk the fans anger last season when he could have quite easily done so. So why should he come out now just to make us all feel that little bit better?

I'd love him to stay, but if he doesn't, I'll wish him well...

Hey, Shanks Red Army you might learn something

Tailgunner said:

Hey, Scouse Billy, just read the article you posted the link for and I don't think it reads too much differently to this one?

You need to study Alonso's comments during the confererations cup, he openly complained about the fall in the pound affecting his wages.

Tax in Spain is less for high earners as the article refers to and I also think Real Madrid have negotiated some tax concessions from the Spanish government?

Either way, Alonso is looking for the ca$h. Loyalty for these guys is a word they know nothing about.

Shank's Red Army said:

Scouse Billy, I've just read the link you posted too and the opening paragraph refers to "The whole thing has got me as confused as a blind lesbian in a fish market".

If you think that that sort of stuff is "intelligent article and comment" then we obviously have different ways of viewing the world.

Scouse Billy said:

You said it and thank goodness we do have different points of view.

a) My family have been supporters with season tickets from 1892 my great grandfather was a neighbour of John Houlding and an original investor. So I have LFC in my blood.

b) I have a sense of humour. Gerry of kopblog fame may not be very PC but he's a character and a wit. Hence, I said you might learn something. Sadly, if the lewd metaphor didn't make you smile (if only because thre's so much wrong with it in "polite" society), makes me suspect you're really a bitter in disguise.

btw the blind lesbian in a fish market is exactly the sort of analogy that would have been used and riotously enjoyed in Shank's bootroom, think on that, given your self-appointed moniker.

Have you never met any real footballers?

Dave Sawyer said:

Hey Scouse Billy I used to live 4 doors down from RonnieMoran and he said they did use the blindfishlesbo analogy in the boot room. They also used the 'feeling like a spare dick at a honeymoon' analogy. Great stuff. That koala bloke is more Barry Divcake than Stanley Unwin, but nicely pointed out whoever did point that one out earlier

Re: Scouse Billy

Regarding your comment -

"Have you never met any real footballers?"

The answer is YES and as for having actually PLAYED with real footballers - the answer is YES to that as well.

As regards swearing etc in your mate's article my point is that adding the swear words etc actually reduces the impact of his points rather than add to it?

You have also kindly informed us that your family have been involved with LFC since the beginning...

Ever read Animal Farm?

It seems you think that all Liverpool supporters are equal but some are....well I'm sure you know the rest.
