AFTER the big news over Double A, I had a dig around on You Tube and picked up this video, which went on a month ago.

Of course, you have to look beyond the dodgy Europop anthem and the fact that I could look like a world-beating midfield dynamo on You Tube. And - I suppose - the fact that it is the same six or seven goals on every video I found.

But - he looks good, doesn't he? Classy and attacking, which is what I'd heard about him.

Plus he is 25 - his best is ahead of him for Rafa to mould. Let's just hope he works out better than our last Italian big money signing, or that we've changed our European scout from the bloke who recommended the self-same Italian big money signing as the answers to our full back issues.

And on a broader point, how good is it to see us finally calling the shots as far as transfers go?

Last summer we were bullied by Aston Villa and backed down over several weeks, revealing fault lines within the club running from the bottom to the top before we made a massively expensive panic buy.

This time around we have made Real Madrid dance to our tune over Xabi Alonso. Despite their posturing, they have paid what we want and we have snapped up our replacement within 24 hours.
