What sort of reception will Man Utd's Michael Owen get now from Liverpool FC fans at Anfield?

I WONDER what kind of reception Michael Owen will get at Anfield next month if he continues to score goals like the late, late winner against Manchester City on Sunday?

To be fair, the strike was just what Sir Alex Ferguson brought the former Liverpool striker to Old Trafford for.

It was a class ball and a typically class finish from Michael who had made a couple of brilliant runs leading up to his goal.

It will also be interesting to see what Fabio Capello does in the lead up to the World Cup if Owen keeps producing the goods.

Manchester City felt aggrieved but in reality they can have few complaints.

A substitution had been made in stoppage time and City shouldn't have spent so long celebrating their equaliser.

Utd fan in peace. Thanks for the fair comments. The ref only played 1 sec more than he should have, and the stats show it was deserved.

Regarding Owen...I'm curious to know what kind of reception he'll get too. It's not quite the same circumstances as Tevez, as his departure was pretty acriminous surrounded by controversy about how he was treated. If anything Liverpool let Owen go and didn't make any effort to sign him back when he was going for free. So I think Rafa only has himself to blame for missing out, not that you really need him right now as Torres has got his shooting boots back on.

But you can't really blame Owen for taking the best offer that was available. I think a bad reception for 1 day in the season is worth playing for Champions and Champions League football rather than playing for Hull/Stoke.

If Gerrard left under the same circumstances...now that's a different matter.

LFC fan. personally i hate to admit it but i agree with the united fan arni. We didnt let Owen go originally as he simply wouldnt sign a new contract and we didnt want him to leave on a free but i personally feel he would have chosen us over united had we gone in for him. our loss uniteds gain. I think Rafa let his principles get in the way. I feel he will get a good reception so long as he doesnt score the winner!!

Owen has played for 13 years without winning a championship. Let hope he can extend that luck of his for another 13 years.

Have to agree with Arni but as a lifelong red I also couldn't agree more with Adam M.

Nothing else to say on the matter except that anybody else would have jumped at the chance of playing for Utd when the alternatives were the likes of Hull/Stoke etc.

Whilst I agree with the fact that United desrved the win on Sunday regardless of who it was, do you really think that hes going to get a good reception at Anfield when he comes back? I tell you now there is no chance of thast happening. Have you seen the tshirts they sell outside, have you heard the general opinion of him now - and the fact that he is helping our most despised enemy to win points?

Im not saying I wholly agree with it but trust me he will be resoundingly slaughtered at anfield when he comes back, he got boo'd even as a Newcastle player by half the crowd for wanting to leave in the first place. Now, hes proved he was never really true liverpool, just in case we didnt know it already.
