Lack of True Information
Over the last few days rumours have been flying around about a possible buyout at Liverpool Football Club. It was revealed on Sunday that George Gillett had entertained a Saudi Prince at Anfield the day before. I was at Anfield by the Main Entrance on Saturday and thinking about it, I believe I saw the gentleman who could become our saviour go in.
Did I say the gentleman who could become our saviour go in. According to several websites and online newspapers, Prince Faizal Bin Abdullah al Saud is interested in purchasing 50% of the club. George Gillett, it is understood is looking to sell his share. From my understanding Tom Hicks is not that keen on a new investor coming in. Why I ask myself, after all, the club certainly needs a further injection of cash. It is understood that Tom Hicks has a right of veto on any proposed takeover concerning George Gillett. He also has first refusal on the buying of extra shares - i.e. he is not going to relinquish control lightly.
I spent most of yesterday and today, trying to find out any information relating to this, but as usual the Anfield press office remained totally quiet. That I am sorry to say, is not the way to run a business, we, the supporters have a right to know what is happening, especially after the problems that Tom Hicks and George Gillett have caused and will continue to cause unless a buyer is found.
Suddenly a statement was issued this evening, not by George Gillett or Tom Hicks but by a spokesman on their behalf. What are that silly pair afraid off - Do they not know, it would better and more feasible coming from them?
The owners have jointly retained The Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Rothschild to evaluate the possibility of new investors injecting equity into LFC.
However the process is at an early stage, there is no agreement with any party and reports to the contrary are wholly inaccurate.
I am sorry but several minutes after that statement was issued, one of my fellow supporters got in touch and said to go on to sky news. He said that they had reported something totally different and evidence to prove it. I was listening to Citytalk Radio at the time and wondered if they would say anything - they did but only reiterated what the statement said.
I hate to say it but I think that we are all being hoodwinked again. Over the weekend it was reported that a deal had been signed to set up academies in the Middle East. Apparently it was then that, it was suggested that the prince possibly look at purchasing some of the club.
Prince Faizal bin Fahad bin Abdullah al Saud is the owner of F6 who apparently have a large interest in Motor sports. I guess they want to digress a little and fancy going into the football club market. In fact, the prince already has one thing in his favour, he has unlike Tom Hicks and George Gillett issued a statement declaring that F6 have an interest in the club and are in fact talking to the present owners.
Going back to my previous paragraph, Sky News was reporting that the Liverpool Football Clubs books had been handed over to F6 for due diligence. In fact pictures were broadcast showing this (I admit I am only going by what I have been told).
Would someone at Liverpool Football Club, please come out and tell us the whole truth - I think we have had enough of the lies and rumours that are going around. Surely after all the problems that Tom Hicks and George Gillett have caused, now is the time to come clean. As the bread and butter of the club, we the supporters deserve that.
