Liverpool should field a reserve team against Chelsea
The big debate about the Chelsea game on Sunday is should Liverpool try and win the game and as a result potentially hand Man United the league or roll-over, let Chelsea win and try and stop United from winning a record-breaking 19th title. It's a no-win scenario as the idea of hearing Ferguson crowing about how he has knocked Liverpool off their perch makes me physically ill. The Times even wrote an article yesterday arguing if you want to beat Chelsea you're not a Liverpool fan. (click here to read the article)
The race for 4th place is a non-reality due to today's results so Liverpool have nothing to lose by fielding an almost reserve team and going all out to beat Chelsea. If we win it will be a famous victory, if we lose then the younger players will have had a great experience.
The bottom line is there is no debate. Liverpool don't go out and try and lose games so that's not an option, so why not create a situation where a victory would be a great achievement and a loss not a tragedy. If it's pride we're worried about then that's something we have had to forgo a long time ago.

Didn't Wolves along wth many other teams play reserve teams or severely weakened teams when they played at the Pox and rolled over for them?.
Isnt liverpools best eleven a reserve league standard ?
After today's results, it would be crazy to risk any more injury or fatigue before our last game at Hull. Even if we lose both games we will still end up ahead of Everton and be in Europe. After all the rubbish the Frogie has said about us in recent times, we cannot make our season any worse than doing him a favour and we won't get a better opprtunity to give good experience to some youngsters.
The reason why Liverpool should walk on that field with victory as their only goal is because they are professionals. Simply put, if they don't then they need to pack it in. I'm a Chelsea fan and I would hate to think that we won the EPL partially due to Pool rolling over. Your position on this issue is pathetically weak and to be honest, dangerous. I would hate to think that young football fans read your site and are in any way influenced.
It should never have come to this! We need a clean start from the owners down to the players. Rafa must go let's get in investment, fresh talent and get the new stadium built as soon as possible. We're a decade behind the top teams and we can't paper over the cracks. LFC deserves better.
If I was Rafa I'd play a full strength line-up with Mascherano in goal.
Kuyt,Torres,Babel,Aquilani at left back (All of them!)
Reina on the left wing.
Lucas,Insua,Carra,Skrtel and Geoff Capes up front keeping Gerrard fresh on the bench as an impact sub for Mascherano should he get tired. :)

How interesting that man-u supporters like richard disguising themselves as chelsea or our supporters to plead for a full strength Liverpool team! Neither do chelsea suppporters have such high morals to not want to face weaker opposition nor does it make sense that both the dirty reds and chelsea want us to play our best side. Just does not add up!!!! Why exhaust already exhausted players instead of leaving them fresh to win our last game against Hull?
Die-hard Liverpool fan here. Pains me to say it, but frankly I think it doesn't matter who Liverpool field. The players are just too tired and too unmotivated at this stage of (this) season to stop a driven Chelsea. If Chelsea play better and come away with 3 points at Anfield, congrats to them. If they beat Utd to the title, it won't be because Liverpool rolled over, it'll be because Utd simply wasn't good enough.
Im a Man Utd fan and i would love for Liverpool to play well and get a point or maybe even 3. I dont mind if United finish 2nd this year because we have played great football at times and at times missed the inspiration of Tevez/Ronaldo which we will fix in the transfer window no doubt.
But from the sounds of it, all of the Liverpool fans are happy finishing 7th!! 7th!! Weren't you 2nd last year? Wasnt this going to be the year Liverpool won their 1st league title in 20 years?
Man Utd sold the best player in the world and are currently 2nd, we can win our 19th league title next year but Liverpool cant erase the fact that a club of its size and stature finished 7th! Best of luck telling Torres that he will have to sit out the Champions League next year.
Whats next? Relegation?
Yeah fair do's you've had a great season. (thanks to a scouser, you'd have been in the same boat without Captain Chromosome to bail you out)
Oh well there's always next season to wear your shirt (if you're 4 points ahead with one game left to play)
Congratulations on winning the Curling Cap, you must be so proud. Bless, now run along and find a forum for fellow skip dippers.
There's a good boy.

@Tilly
Mate, Whens the last time your lot won a Cup? 2006? I can understand what be like to have an empty silverware cupboard.
In 4 years, we have won 7 Cups, so you know going one season ONLY winning 1 Cup, not so bad. (That said, we could still win the league this year, and even if Chelsea cruise past Liverpool we will make sure it goes to the last day.)
And it is a shame that after selling the worlds best player we required another player to step up and fill his boots.
Btw miss Torres much this season?
At the end of the day Man U fans should blame their team for throwing away points this season and not have their moaning manager plead with Liverpool to beat CFC. Like Liverpool last season we threw away points and your loss against Burnley at home should hopefully cost you the league.Ye you will win the 19th title sooner or later but you may have to play second fiddle to money bags Man City for some time? One thing we have in common is allowing our clubs to be controlled by greedy yanks whom have no idea of our passion or love for our clubs
I couldent agree more with the author on this one evem tho there are a few points I have diffrent outlooks on.
