Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez in recovery after kidney stones operation

RAFA Benitez was recovering in hospital today after minor surgery.
The Liverpool manager was rushed to Arrowe Park hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning after complaining of pains in his lower back.
After being examined by doctors Benitez was diagnosed as suffering from a kidney stones and was operated on yesterday afternoon.
A club spokesman told the ECHO: "Rafa has been admitted to hospital after suffering problems with a kidney stone.
"He has undergone a minor operation and is expected to return to work within two or three days. He remains in good spirits and everyone at Liverpool wishes him a very speedy recovery."
The ECHO understands while the Reds boss is in a lot of pain the operation was a success and he is expected to recover completely in days.
Benitez is the second Premier League manager to suffer from the condition after Chelsea boss Felipe Scolari was diagnosed with the same problem on Saturday night.
According to information available from the NHS, kidney stones are stone-like lumps that can develop in one or both of the kidneys. They affect around three in 20 men and one in 20 women in the UK.
Today messages of support came in from Liverpool fans hoping the manager is back on the bench on Sunday for the trip to Arsenal.
On our forums Waino said: "Kidney stones do not sound much. But they are painful and debilitating. It's credit to Rafa for coping with the pain whilst coaching the team."
LFC diehard said: "GET WELL SOON!!!!" and Redsfan4eva said: "YNWA rafa, get well soon!"
Benitez is the latest Reds manager to be admitted to hospital while at the helm.
In 2001 Gerard Houllier underwent heart surgery, and in 1992 Graeme Souness also had an emergency heart op.
