Liverpool rediscover their winning ways
Kenny Dalglish's stewardship began to bear fruit on Saturday with an impressive 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Liverpool played with confidence, composure and an energy we haven't seen for a long time. In the last few games we began to see signs that the team was beginning to rediscover how to play quality football and on Saturday they got the reward their efforts deserved.
Dalglish has not only begun to restore confidence to the team as a whole but also to individual players like Meireles who gave a cracking display and produced a cracking goal. Goal of the season? He continues to look like an excellent acquisition. Kenny has even got Poulsen on the road to gaining form, something I didn't think possible up until now. Dalglish is getting the best out of the squad.
One of the immediate changes Kenny has brought to Liverpool is his vision for the future by placing confidence in the likes of the impressive Kelly and Spearing (although the latter didn't feature in Saturday's match). This has brought a new dimension to Liverpool's play. These lads want it bad and perhaps their desire is rubbing off on the other, more senior, players. Pulling on the red shirt means everything to them as it should to every Liverpool player and this is exactly the attitude Kenny is looking for.
So next up Fulham at home on Wednesday. I just can't see Liverpool loosing the momentum now, only building on the performance at Wolves. Dalglish has got the team looking good in short-order, even without Gerrard and Carragher, so let's hope this week we see a few new signings to further strengthen the squad and the team's confidence.
