Questions Need To Be Answered Because Liverpool Appear To Be Going Backwards
Having just watched the Sunderland versus Liverpool game, I
think I can speak for everyone when I say that what we all witnessed was a
horror story. The players performances
today were diabolical and it about time someone starting asking some very
serious questions. Those questions must
also be directed at the Director of Football as well as the Manager and his
coaching staff.
I have to admit that I was worried about the result; the
moment that the team was announced and it lead me to wonder, just as I did last
week if Kenny has any input in the team selection. There appear to me, to be too many hap hazard
changes each week for them to be down to Kenny.
His knowledge of the game should guarantee that the right players are
chosen each week. But within minutes of them being on the pitch, my fears were
well-found because it became clear that the wrong eleven were on the pitch. I
also do not agree with the captain being the goalkeeper, because it means that
there is no leadership in the middle of field and that is the place where it
should always be.
The game of course was always going to be a difficult one as
Sunderland have improved since Martin O'Neill took over as manager, but I
suspect even they did not know, they were going to face eleven men who simply
gave the impression that today's game was just something that had popped up in
their diary and they needed to get it out of the way. It was as though the clock had been turned
back to last year during Roy Hodgson's reign because the standard of football
was diabolical. I don't think I saw one
complete pass the whole of the first half and I think in the second half they
only happened once Stevie had come onto the pitch, if then. I have to admit I started to concentrate on
my knitting rather than watch the game to ensure I calmed down.
But then again why should I calm down. The season is three quarters of the way
through and I along with the rest of you should be celebrating our steady climb
up the league towards that treasured Champions League Spot. A spot that is now absolutely and totally out
of our reach because let's all face the fact now, with the rubbish we have in
the team it is simply not going to happen.
That rubbish of course was brought into the club by Damien
Comolli, who religiously goes by that stupid money ball system. A system, that apparently dictates that you
buy in young players so that you get your monies worth in around 5 years' time,
when they reach their true potential. It
is about time someone opened his eyes and made him realize in the English game,
you buy players of quality no matter what their age is to ensure you reach the
goals that are set by your owners. Now
as far as I am concerned, Damien Comolli is nothing more than a scout and
certainly should be doing the job he is doing, because he simply does not have
a clue. I would have thought that having
been sacked by Tottenham and Arsenal guaranteed that he never got a job in the
Premier League again, but then when you are new to the game and he is
recommended by Arsenal's owner I guess John Henry took him on after listening
to some very well-rehearsed speeches.
In total since last January eight new players have joined
Liverpool's ranks and three of them are simply not good enough to wear the
Liverpool shirt. They are Charlie Adam,
Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson. Three
players, who were overpriced and quite frankly should never, have been looked
at by Liverpool. Yes they played well for their old clubs, but in those clubs
the standards set were different. Charlie was supposed to help bolster our
midfield and it is not happening and I think one of the youngsters would do so
much better. Andy was brought in to score goals - please tell me how he can do
that, when he appears to have forgotten what a ball looks like. Jordan, I think
finds the big games too much at the moment and his nerves take over.
Sebastian Coates, is another example of a young expensive
player which still does not understand what playing for Liverpool means, today
his nerves took over and quite frankly we were lucky to escape with just the
one goal against us. Why Jamie was not
on the pitch is another of life's mysteries.
Of the others, Stewart Downing is slowly beginning to find
his feet and if he can begin to understand that you must play well every week,
then yes, he may at some point in the future be able to stake his place every
week in the team.
Luis Suarez of course is suffering I believe from a lack of
confidence at the moment, hence his lack of action in front of the goal. I have my doubts as to whether it will
recover by the end of the season or if indeed he will be a Liverpool player at
the beginning of next season.
Craig Bellamy is the signing of the season and what did he
cost nothing. Here is a lad who is now
in his thirties but his thirst for the game is second to none. His energy and his enthusiasm is fantastic as
is his love of the game. This of course
is the one example that throws that stupid money ball system straight out of
the window. Today he was let down by his
team mates and simply could not get into the game.
Jose Enrique is another player, who has slotted straight in
and has saved us on quite a few occasions. Again he is closer to the older
rather than the younger player and understands what playing for a big club means.
He did his best today but with his team mates not knowing whether to chase or
pick up the ball, he was on a hiding to nowhere.
Now to the Manager and his coaching staff. I have nothing against Kenny and I honestly do
not believe the dire performances that we have witnessed lately are down to
him. Although he joins in the training
sessions, they are mainly mapped out by his colleagues Steve Clarke and Kevin
Keen. Now we all know Kenny has a
fantastic pedigree and at this moment in time it is probably like a noose
around his neck. As soon as the players
do as they did today and play badly, he gets pulled apart. That has to stop
because the buck lies with the eleven players on the pitch.
His assistants though, need to look at themselves and ask if
they are training the players in the right way.
Steven Clarke came with a massive pedigree after being at Chelsea with
Jose Mouriniho and knows all about winning, so why can he not get this into the
heads of the players. Kevin Keen came
from West Ham and that should set some questions in motion, after all they have
become a team that goes up and down between the premiership and the
championship every other season.
I said last season before the changes were made that I had a
feeling the training sessions were not as they should be and was proved right
time and time again. These season,
although we see them doing some ball work and running, I would really love to
know what the rest of the sessions are composed off, because they are not
working
Something needs to be done and done quickly and I certainly
don't advocate changing the manager. The club is as we all know in a period of transition
and Kenny needs to complete the job.
What he does not need are players that have no intention of ensuring the
club moves forward. These players are only there for the massive pay check at
the end of the month and need to be moved on urgently once the window opens in
the summer.
Until they are the club will continue to go backwards and to
be honest I dread to think where we will be at the end of May.
Saying that though, there is a young man out there with
Liverpool etched very deeply in his heart and not only is he a free agent, he
is looking for a new club. Who is this
young man you may ask. His name of
course is Robbie Fowler and if anyone can solve our goal drought, he can. He may also be able to join Stevie, Jamie and
Craig in trying to get the message across to the players that playing for
Liverpool Football Club is a privilege and not a drudgery that they need to get
out of the way.

what crap! the book stops with King Kenny, Blamming Steve Clarke and Damien Comolli is bollocks. Kenny is a dinosaur that had been out of the game too long and tried to carry on where he left off. Wing players and an old fashioned 'English' centre forward does'nt work in todays game. We've gone backwards since Rafa. Look at how the champions elect play, in Man City or Barcelona.
Overpaid, over hyped average mid table players, ( my blood is still boiling some 4/12hrs later), show passion earn your money.
I agree with Paul, to a greater extent. Kenny & Commoli deserve the blame... along with the players.
Some of the players bought haven't been good enough, and half the team needs a rocket up their jacksies!
So many passes played behind the target player. So much horizontal passing. So little urgency. And dubious team selection and substitutions...
I'm not shouting for the exit of Kenny and Commolli, but they need to get a grip. When RH was in charge, I said I was more concerned about the way we play, rather than the result, and that still stands. Kenny brought in a great improvement in style, but we seem to have stopped progressing and have slipped backwards.
And why didn't we buy a striker in Jan?

Agree with Paul Austin.....KD is still in the 80's, the players he paid sinful money for Carroll, Adam, Henderson and I would add Downing as well, are TOTAL cr*p.
Hodgson was sacked (and rightly so) for thinking that, he was still managing Fulham. Benitez was pushed (wrongly in my opinion) for finishing 7th (with minimum funds)once in 6 years.
So what can we make of KD, so far, after spending over £100 million, on very very AVERAGE and OVERPRICED so called 'Best of British' player?....Have we gone forward?...not an INCH!,will we recoup the same money we wasted, on the above mention player?.....not a chance!!, will we improve under KD's management?....NOT IN A MILLION YERAS!!!
Stevie G is no longer a good enough captain - been brilliant but his time is up - he no longer inspires the team - SORRY BUT IT IS FACT

Unfortunately things at LFC are getting pretty ugly after experiencing our third consecutive defeat in the premier league and I personally don’t see any way of recovery as long as Kenny Dalglish remains on helm! It is imperative for John W. Henry, Thomas Werner, Ian Ayre, and Damiel Comolli to finally realize this as well and finally to take the right decision as they can factually prove what they have been declaring from the very first moment they undertook the team that they want to transform it into a superpower football team again! It is so deplorably tragic watching LFC games and being possessed by the sentiment that this team does not actually have a manager who will scout and analyze the opponent teams and provide the right plan to the players as tactically can play orthodox football and beat their opponents! So, if Kenny Dalglish loves this club as he claims I am wondering how he can’t observe and perceive this reality and for the sake of the team to step down as LFC’s manager? Kenny was good just for the transitional period of moving from the ex-ownership to the current. Kenny is not good enough for the modernized football, thus, he is not the manager who will meet up with our high expectations!

The reluctance to change the team at half time is bemusing. It was obvious that the line up against Sunderland was not working so why not make changes sooner? Our midfield on Saturday was pathetic. Any move we made started so deep that by the time we got to the other half the other team has got everyone behind the ball. How can you blame the front men when they are swamped by 11 men in defence? The whole approach is wrong and if KK doesn't know this then he should do the honourable thing and step down. The team and club must come first.
If Kenny loves liverpool, he should step down. Hodgson and Rafa did not get the chance and support you've had. The fans and owners are with you, 100mil for seventh place and carling cup with all the support from the fans? Less than the 10 points in Anfield? Less than 30 goals from a 55mil attack pair? Is this success or failure? We need answers! It will be very good to show us some respect and accept that you've failed us. Who cares about the players attitude? That's why they have you as their coach. Stop blaming refs, your players and please stop talking about us being out of luck when we loose games. Its shameful! Just resign! 35mil for carrol? GO AWAY, KENNY GO! STEP DOWN. YOU HAVE FAILED US!
What utter, utter nonsense.Lucky to escape with just one goal against us? The luckiest goal I've seen since the beach ball and then Sunderland offered nothing. Both teams were dreadful!
Journalism that is worse than the football on offer yesterday!!!!
At least Kenny’s all-conquering Liverpool may break ONE record this season…
The record for the fewest league goals scored in a season stands at 42 before the creation of Premier League, and 51 in the 1999/2000 season of the Premier League. Liverpool will probably surpass the 42-goal mark but if they are to score more than 50 goals, they will have to change something in their approach to games. [1]

To me, Kenny is not enough to be a Manager.
Because Imagine, we could not even beat Cardiff hands down without taking penalties.
Kenny bought some useless, half experience players which doesn't even have confidence on the pitch. its only Suarez, Kuyt doing all the neccessary works and what about these Player bought?
We need a good Manager like RAFA and not Manager like Kenny because I knew it from the start that Kenny will fail.
Where's Maxi, Shelvy who has courage and confidence to play on pitch and not people like Downing, Herderson, Carroll, Adams..these Players are suck.
They doesn't deserve to be a Liverpool Players, because they doesn't have courage....and for the Manager, we need a better one who could buy 100% experience Players for us and not English players because they doesn't have the football tactics.
We have far to many mediocre players, Jordan Henderson should have been up for this gamne - waste of space and Charlie Adams, crossing was a disgrace. Young spearing although his heart is LFC, I don't think he will make the grade.
Kenny got his tactics all wrong, when he was at NUFC he reformed a team and look what happened there
Asd for Carroll, if you are going to buy a player like him, then use him to his strengths, something we are incapable of doing.
We need a decent striker and right winger and Downing still has to prove himeself or he can go as well.
Kenny Dalglish,Commoli,Clarke, all of them deserve pats on the back so far.I really sympathise wt the Condition of LFC at the moment, but we don't need to throw blames unneccessarily from the armchair. What we need are suggestions on the way forward.LFC should simply buy 2 good strikers that can kill games and preferably non English.I would like to see more of Bellamy and Kuyt on the field.Suarez should learn how to pass and shoot, not dribble. We have not done too badly this season. Our season is better than that of Torres.YNWA.
To varying degrees, on a scale from head-scratching to jaw-dropping, the three England players - £70 million of Dalglish/Comolli business - have yet to demonstrate their worth to the Liverpool side.
They appeared to be the correct shape and shade of jigsaw piece chosen by one (Comolli), perhaps, looking at the bigger picture but without the necessary vision, grasp or intuit.
Yet who would now argue as to the value of Suarez, Enrique, Bellamy (and maybe even Adam, if he further adapts in a new position) - who all certainly look like canny signings!
Only when fully utilising the man’s talent to mould a team in his own image will it truly become Dalglish’s, and start to resemble successful Liverpool sides of old. (He says, on bended knee, with hands claped...)
what a load of so called fans talking rubbish.
this is not a lfc fan site this is a manc bluenose.site.
have won carling cup in the semis fa cup.
dry your eyes.
kenny is the man..stick with him..steve clarke and commoli..we have done well since kenny come in from hodgens.
