Kenny Dalglish takes his resurgent side to the Midlands this weekend, where he will face Alec McLeish's Aston Villa. Both clubs have seen change in the past 12 months and are both trying to move further up the Premier League table.

Victory for either side is massive. A win for Liverpool keeps them right in the middle of a scrap for that elusive fourth Champions League spot and maintains and their strong away form.

A win for Villa will see them edge closer to the European places and improve confidence no end.

So far this season, Liverpool have been very inconsistent. They have gone from the highs of winning 2-0 at the Emirates to disappointing draws at home to newly-promoted sides, Norwich City and Swansea City.

Much of this is down to the lack of goals being scored. After 11 league games, only 14 goals have hit the opposition net which just isn't good enough. Liverpool have hit the woodwork 11 times this season, though, which softens the blow a little.

The Reds sit fifth in the table, three points behind Tottenham who have a game in hand. Luckily, it is only early in the season but we can't continue to let our rivals stretch a lead over us. Arsenal may be below us but they have reignited their season over the past few weeks with some strong performances and keep collecting points.

It's that time of year again, Everton vs. Liverpool is one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the season. The Merseyside derby is arguably the biggest in England and, as usual, will provide plenty of talking points.

Both teams go into the match in decent form. Last week, Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 at home while Everton lost against Manchester City but beat Wigan the week before by three goals to one.

Stoke City away. Most players dread this game as it's the most physical they'll face all season. Many call it a war rather than a football match. If you win the war of the Britannia Stadium, you'll walk away with three points... and plenty of bruises.

Liverpool went into the (annoying and unwanted) International break in sparkling form, sending Bolton home with their tails between their legs after knocking three past them at Anfield. In August, the Reds claimed seven points from their three league games and advanced to the third round of the Carling Cup.

No serious problems arose from the International break; Charlie Adam had to sit out of Scotland's Euro 2012 qualifying match against Lithuania with a hip problem. The Scot was back in training with Liverpool when he came back, though, and looks fit enough to play at the weekend.

                         
This summer has seen a big overhaul in players and mentality at Liverpool Football Club.

A total of £54 million has been spent, and another £8m expected with the arrival of Uruguayan defender Sebastián Coates.

It was obvious for all to see which positions needed strengthening this summer - left-back, centre midfield, central defence, wingers and strikers. Every position has been taken care of since January (the new owner's first chance to spend). The forwards are set to be strengthened even more with the rumoured arrival of former Red and childhood supporter, Craig Bellamy.

The signings so far have shown a real desire and shown the intentions of the club for the coming season.
